It would be wise for Iran to launch a massive attack on US forces. They would catch the US by surprise because the US isn't expecting an attack from Iran. There is no intelligence showing an increased Iranian threat. The Trump administration is making it up. The Saudi ships were sabotaged by the USA in a false flag operation in order to increase support for a war on Iran. A massive attack by Iran on American bases and ships is not expected. The US would not know what to do in response if their entire carrier group is sunk. Sending more ships would just cause more casualties.
