Good friend (male) is a senior exec. He's been at same employer for 30+ years and has a sterling reputation. He is demanding when it comes to accountability. A group of women in his organization got very upset when he fired one of their "clique" members. They conspired against him to try to get him fired.

He was accused of sexism and misogyny. Formal complaints were made to HR by multiple women. The only thing that saved him was that one of the clique had a crisis of conscience and ratted out the ringleaders for fake reports. She actually had recorded a conference call where they discussed in great detail how they were going to "get him". She played the recording for HR and saved the guy's job, family, reputation, etc. It was ridiculously easy for them to almost destroy him.
