I volunteered to leave my home, forget who I was, forget who I am, forget everything I ever knew, to be born into this shit hole world and do what I can at this very important point of space and time.......to make whatever difference I could.

I also (with the help of my wife), raised two little boys into two, good, young men, whom I am very proud of.

I have heard that you can never really ever go home....I hope that's not true.

At 8 years, i gave the heimlich maneuver to my friend and saved his life. He was choking on a cinnamon candy.
My father had showed me how to do it the previous day.

Once I rode my bike from diamond lake and around crater lake 2 x and back to diamond lake in a day. Something like 12,000 feet total climbing.

Re: What's the most badass thing you've ever done?
It’s hard to tell without angering and veering all over the place

I live on a farm in southwestern Indians. I live here because the farm is here. A land without people for a person without land. My mother was born in this house. Her grandmother was born here too. Generations of us played in the garden as little girls

It’s flat ugly land until you look at it close. On your hands and knees with gloves and dogfernits gorgeous soil, with tiny shells and hoppy roads.

Used to be all our doctors were us—some have been doctors as long as they’ve been farmers. Someone had to do the doctoring and if you were smart enough and your dad didn’t need your labor on the farm that’s what you did.

My great grandmother was a midwife. No one asked her if she wanted to be. She was able to do it so they called on her when they needed her. I would love to know what her infant survival rate was and how it compares to the state and the region today.

We get these bad doctors now. I don’t mind ce words. Some are cognitively impaired. Some are morally impaired. Some are unimpaired. Some are both cognitively and morally impaired. Come see. Wear a body camera. Come to ER. See how you get treated. Let others see how you get treated. Ask some questions. Record the lies. Expose the liars. Document the incompetence. Evidence the lack of ethics.

Do that for the good, sweet, kind, naive and trusting innocent peoooe of flyover.

I had to risk my life to avoid iatrogenic wreckage at the hands of despicable doctors who disgrace their mothers and their once noble profession.

They lied to me about treatment options. They lied about tmedocone. I’m not mad they refused to treat me if my insurance didn’t compensate. I’m mad they endangered me by lying to me.

The first line treatment for fast abnormal uterine bleeding is to stabilize s bleeding person, rule out injury/pregnancy etc, rule out cancer, rule out bleeding disorder, replace progesterone and block estrogen.

I did that easy once I knew how.
Local ER didn’t know how or just refused to do any of that.

Local gynecologist had a lab tech who tried to induce cancer scare over nothing. The way this usually goes down is a woman with estrogen:progesterone imbalance starts to need, gets the old cancer scare, and is ever so grateful to be saved by big innecessary surgery. Like this is rural India instead of Indiana. Third world behavior. Third world attitude toward the poor, innocent, naive—those who trust educated people.

Come do your own investigation. Put a camera on a real local and her sister and see how they get treated.

It would make great television. You could make a whole documentary.

What happened

I began to bleed a pint a day. I’d already ruled out cancer and knew I had some kind of hormone Imbalance.

I already knew local doctors are unethical and morally collapsed. I knew they treat patients like livestock. I had enough experience with them to know not to trust an unfamiliar one.

I did see PCP. Docko was a good one. There’s a lot of moral courage that comes of knowing at least one person behaves ethically and correctly and doesn’t lie to you or act like you should be processed like a livestock or die.

They say being able to say a clear cogent narrative is part of healing.

I bled a pint a day.
I had no instruction.
I could not read anything of substance.
I could not think very well—nature of estrogens blocking thyroid impeding dopamine; PTSD running down cortisol stealing pregnolonone from progesterone.

I had no plan.

I took ibuprofen to halve blood loss.

I got in cold tubs to temporarily stop bleeding. Sometimes it worked for a few hours.

I was so impaired I thought a civil war fieldanual might tell me some nineteenth century herbal concoction to build blood.

O had to stop bleeding and also to build coagulant because if I bled a certain unknown percentage of blood I’d bleed out no matter what I did with hormones.

The fix was easy. Ibuprofen. Cold water immersion. Drink water. Drink sea salt water. Drink green juice. Drink chlorophyll.

Basil tea fills cannibinoid receptors and contains chlorophyll, vitamin K and phytoestrogens.

Intuition told me the hour I thought I might die that summer to use a progesterone product I’d seen on the shelves in Vitamin Cottage.

I dreamed of the day I compressed my back and found a massage therapist working cheap for practice hours. I let her push my shovel kinks right and she told me to soak in rosin salts air magnesium flakes. I reached for it on a low shelf, seeing my garden skirt and beat up sandals, glancing over the progesterone products I never looked at...

I woke with one product so clearly in memory I could draw the whole label. Very detailed. I ordered it.

It’s a no brained now but I was biased against it somehow.

Progesterone restores cognition.

Better search terms yielded good ER instructions from an American city hospital. I lacked the estrogen blocker. I couldn’t acquire it without exposing good people to prosecution. It was so late in the game I wasn’t sure I’d fix hormones before I bled to the point of no return. O might still fail. Indiana doesn’t have much conscience ce about Lin ecessary sirgery on false pretexts bit I thought they’d be Johnny on the spot to prosecute a Good Samaritan who awaited an estrogen blocker and got it across state lines to me.

I’m digressing. It’s still stressful to talk about.

I figured it out.
I did not bleed to death.
I fixed a whole lot of what looked like neuropsychiatric stuff with hormones.

It was simple and easy.

The hard part was finding the information after being lied to and obfuscated by doctors.

Then the hard part was staying conscious, drinking enough water, taking enough salt, not having a stroke, not having s heart attack, eating green food, waiting on UPS, getting sunlight, circling the house, cleaning up the blood spatter, enough yoga to offset bedrest, picking basil and parsley.

I’d hack a cauliflower into four chinks and take it to bed with me. Sleep. Eat cauliflower. Sleep curled around the bowl, eat and sleep.

Could not circle the house without stopping to rest.

The only anxiety I felt was lest the UPS man think I was so bad off he should call EMS. I could trust the police and ambulance tier and I can normaoalise my vitals—special skills— but if I was staggering or unconscious they’d take me to ER and the ghouls would do whatever paid best.

I do not like local doctors. I bet their own mothers are deeply Nicole t about them. I think MY family is dysfunctional but we don’t hurt and injure folks for money.

See how I derail?

It was a day like today, cutting out trumpet vine from the peony bed, oeionoes on full bloom
, roses just coming in.

I began to bleed like the Libby elevtor at the overlook hotel.

OCP did his part right and well and ruled out bleeding disorder.

I knew from experience local doctors were bad. The odds of finding a good one were slim.

When insurance found one he was way out miles and miles away on Amish country. He was frightened of me.

I fixed my problem without medical interference, obstruction, damage or wreckage.

I missed my only child’s wedding. I have not been able to bear to ask to see the video. I haven’t even opened the package containing the framed photograph. It hurts. It was a big event. I would have liked to have been there. I would have liked to dance with my son on his wedding day.

The badass part is I kept my feet for weeks of serious blood loss. I didn’t panic and get wrecked to save my life. I held my ground. I adhered to my principles

I risked my life because I had to.

I got a great outcome.

Before the peonies are gone and the roses out I will form a simple narrative. See if I don’t.

One time in Indiana almost bled to death. Rural flyover doctors are no good so if you want ethical treatment you figure it out and DIY. I did that and got a great outcome.

It began on a day like this with the peonies in full bloom and the roses budding.

I had to risk my life to avoid unethical injurious treatment and to get the only right treatment by doing it myself.

It was an easy choice. I’m not livestock. I won’t be processed for someone else’s financial convenience.

Some here think PTSD is a sad saga that we dwell on for attention, and disability money. Thsts their superstitious ignorance. Ptsd is wholly physical and physiological.
It’s the right HPA for harrowing experience.
It’s loss of the fear of death. I’ve been in the bardo before and it’s not a bad neighborhood when you know your way around.
It’s a disorder of arousal—I can go and go— talking, fucking fighting, training, or planting seeds. I was badass on the dojo floor and I am badass whenever I need to be.

I would like to keep some telemeres for later.

I just wish I could get beyond the great FUCK YOU and relate to people nicely again.

Fuck it. I love my garden and that’s enough for today.

I’ll fix ptsd too. See if I don’t

Re: What's the most badass thing you've ever done?
The short version.

I had a threat to life medical situation. I knew the risk of death by heart attack or stroke.

I knew the doctors of southwestern Indiana lack ethics and competence. God was with me and I one time timed emergency services just right—good doc in ER and good doc in ICU. The good ones are angered by the usual ones.

I had a threat to life medical situation and no one can reasonably trust an unfamiliar doctor in hoosierland. They could have fucked me up bad and would have done so for the little money and perverse joy they got out of it.

I made the decision to avoid medical services. I could not travel to a normal place. I could t trust local doctors to be normal.

I had no clue how to figure out “hormonal adjustment”
I was impaired. I’d long complained that I could not think or read anymore.

I only knew I had to keep blood volume high and circulating, keep building blood, build coagulant, and try to slow/stop bleeding as I figured out hormonal adjustment.

I changed by whole life for the better treating myself “naturally”

I should not have had to treat myself.

I should not have had to hide my condition from the UPS man.

Somehow the story about how strong and smart I was gets lost to the story of deplorable healthcare in Indiana. It wasn’t that hard to fix myself. I don’t know how to fix deplorably unethical medical services in my little toe of the sick.

One day it will be just a story about how badass I was.

When I was 15 we used to go to our high school about a mile away and ride our bikes around the parking lot. My step brother was near the middle school and this green chevette pulled over to the side walk huge guy got out and popped the hatch and was listening to music.i rode by and he said come here so I rode over and he locked his knees on front tire and said give me ur bike. I said no twice and he reached in and pulled .38 and parked it right between my eyes.. I looked up and the cylinder were empty. He said now give me your bike!! I waited a sec and said go ahead and shoot, you got 4 empty cylinders go ahead n shoot. He said what'd you say, I said u got four empty cylinder, odds are the other two are empty, shoot me. He said you smart lil fucker get outta here. I rode like hell got my brother and left. Kinda badass kinda stupid. Nowadays I'd jus give up the bike

Re: What's the most badass thing you've ever done?
Not so much bad ass, but traumatic:

I was in a pig pen and a massive pig attacked me. Knocked me right on my back and was on top of me. Had a mouthful of my coveralls and was rag dolling me. I tried punching as hard as I could. Nothing. I drove my thumbs into its eyes. Nothing. I tried to choke it. Nothing. I scrambled to find a rock to club it. Nothing. I beat its head as hard as I could with my fists and it had zero effect. I am 6’ tall and fairly strong. I lift logs and weights and heavy parts regularly. I am no weakling or slouch. Yet I couldn’t budge this fucking pig off me. He was shaking me so hard I started to black out and I knew it. I started getting tunnel vision and my field of view was pinholes. I was going down and this pig was going to eat me. My only thought was that it was going to eat my wife who would eventually come to the pen to look for me.
I blacked out for probably a few seconds until the pig whipped around and attacked another pig that came over to see what all the noise was about.
I literally crawled out of that pen and my legs didn’t work for a while.
I slept in the mud for an hour until my wife came by and called me lazy slob for laying in the mud. She had no idea.
The bad pig was now calm and even wiggled its tail for her.
I don’t know what the heck got into that pig, but for a few minutes it was a demon.

Re: What's the most badass thing you've ever done?
I know this isn't the answer you are looking for but....

At an early age I decided that I would live my life the best way I could in accordance with Jesus' teachings.
My wife and I dated for 5 years - last year of high school and all through University before we were married and we were both virgins when we were married.
We have raised 2 boys who are now 21 and 23 and tried to teach them the best we could, showing them that dedicating your life to GOD is the best thing you can do.
Keep your nose clean and your attitude humble.
GOD has blessed us beyond measure - even though we went through some very lean times early in our marriage - 25 years later she is still my best friend.

So I guess the answer to your question would be that we bucked the trend of modern society and stuck with the 'old ways' despite criticism and some ridicule along the way.
GOD is good and will bless your intentions.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77606189

GOOD FOR Y'ALL. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU, I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE LEFT. SORRY i did not keep myself for marriage i wish a 1000 times over i had, but i did do something great.
when i was 17 the devil walked up to me and offered me the world, yup anything i wanted and i do mean anything i wanted! i turned him down flat, hell no! i have spent the last 30 plus years broke.I AM 54 NOW. i also got 2 boys 23 and 24, i try to teach them what i have learned, but the world is hard on them. pray for them when you remember and pray for me i am under attack always. i will help all those who stand against the mark when the time come. refuse the mark even if death is the only way to stand against it. i will stand first as your proof we do ever die, follow my lead...

we were kids my sister and i, i was bout 12 so my sis was 8. out in anther neighborhood riding bikes.

my sis went down a hill and hit front brake, went over the handlebars, bike lands on her tiny body. screams, i run over. blood. big gash in her ankle, shaped like the sprocket. the front sprocket had slammed down hard on landing

she was loosing blood. this was before cellphones by the way.

my memories start to fade here but somehow i carried her and made the 3 mile walk home up hill at one point. i guess it was only 20 minutes? because instead of going home i saved a few minutes by going to the neighbors house, who i didnt know this but she was a nurse. its badass, because my sis was fine, she got 13 stiches and a really cool scar. and i think a force overcame my body like either an angel or adrenaline.
