What is your impression of Calvary Chapel churches and their affiliates?

I grew up in the Calvary Chapel affiliated system of evangelical churches. While I'm very thankful and grateful for the foundation it gave me and all of the good memories, I've become somewhat critical as I've gotten older. I think it is the whole "we are non-denominational yet we tend to be a denomination in and of ourselves" type vibe. Sometimes it seems a little too informal compared to more traditional services and denominations while at other times feeling a bit too conservative where you don't have that free flowing Holy Spirit type vibe like some other denominations. I'm kind of torn at this point in time because I want to get back involved in church, but i'm kind of sick of the usual "formula" that every service follows that I'm used to.

Anyone here have any of their own insights into Calvary Chapel? It's hard to truly see it as an outsider since I grew up within it.
