The retail apocalypse has nothing to do with trade | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73106219 United States 05/22/2019 05:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A Fox Business article detailing retail stores closing around the country and why. Yes you guessed it, online retail is shuttering brick and mortar locations and it will continue for a long time. These stores aren't going out of business because of trade or because of taxes. They are closing because they cannot compete with a changing digital commerce. You have more selection and variety online. Something brick and mortar stores can't do. They cannot afford to bring in that much stock and sit on it until it's sold. They need that valuable retail space to sell. Amazon and others like it do not have that problem. They simply need a physical location for storage and that's it. I have on many occasion gone to the store to buy something only to find that my choices were very limited. I'm talking 1 or 2 products. I go on Amazon and now I need to figure out which of the hundreds of products I want to buy. Like it or not, physical retail locations will start to disappear more and more. That's why it's so important that we bring back ALL manufacturing to this country. We need those jobs for the people who will be left unemployed when these retail locations close.
