TIRED OLD PREPPER PURGING THE CRAP FROM MY HOUSE – SHAME ON ME ALL THESE YEARS! | |

Maybe natural doom on a large scale, but probably only a small chance. I will continue to learn to homestead, but prepping for an ELE is basically pointless. Don't just toss it, donate it to a good cause - someone who has more faith that Mad Max is inevitable and isn't willing to pussy out early, namely me! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77406396 LOL, After 20 years, I've just had enough. That's all. Trust me, some of it's not worth keeping. Seeds can only store for so long, foods, well depending upon the company that you acquire them from, may or may not be good still. Honest to God, there were some storable food companies back in the day that sold crap. You would eat it in an absolute emergency but that's about it. I have hordes of medical supplies, weapons and ammo, batteries, candles, all sorts of lighting devices. Cooking equipment, solar oven, solar generator which is a piece of shit, and so much more. Yeah it's got a go. I'll keep most of my guns and ammo, but some of it has got to go. No need for all that. That way if I get raided when the shit hits the fan, they'll only get a few of my guns if they kill me first. :-) And like I said above, at this point I don't care. But I won't go down without a fight if the shit does at the fan. well my stored water got me thru nearly 3 years ago of 6 days with NO water at all. Damaged plumbing cause... And 24 hours of NO electricity in the bitter cold this winter caused me to prove to myself how good my stores and plans actually were. Right now I am having an issue with my food stamps and using some of my stored food. I haven't found any I need to toss because of condition really. you are using your things wisely. You are using your emergency supplies for what they are actually designed for. I live in Florida, so we stay on alert for potential power outages and other situations every year. No need for access, and it's nice to see you doing the right thing. You are being very reasonable. |

Over the past month, after further study and reflection, I almost think we'd be better off stocking a good bag and taking our chances out in the woods. I know there will be crazies out there, but I think I'd rather risk being on the move than being ambushed for my stash. Quoting: Just Some Chick just a hint of advice for you: you can more easily be ambushed in the woods. Chances are you're going to get ambushed anyway unless you're heavily armed and you have some expert marksmen in your sphere of influence. Shelter in place. Unless you live in a big city. But being out in the woods will cause you to be in the exact same situation but instead exposed to the elements to add more insult to misery. Just saying. By the way, I have counseled and spoken the people in that freaked out state of mind for years. My job was to help people get prepared for whatever potential emergency might be coming down the road. Back in the day, I made a living off of helping people prepare. Pretty scary that I'm at a no shits to give point. So no more freaking out my friend, be levelheaded and don't be like me and be stupid and hoard bunch of things that you don't need. |

If I hadn't of prepped ahead of time, when I got injured, I would have immediately had to go on publik assistance. Instead I was able to live for close to 4 years without financially burdening anyone. I was fortunate to have the foresight and grateful for being prepared. I'm older now, paralyzed and don't care so much that all my preps have been used. Anonymous Coward User ID: 73662501 United States 05/22/2019 10:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’ve been going through my home with a fine tooth comb the last couple of days, getting rid of everything and anything I can that I simply have no use for anymore. Crap, junk, good things that are completely useless to me. Giving away, selling, going in the garbage. A huge portion of this is my emergency supplies. Yep you heard me. I’m done with it. Quoting: CrimsonBleu For 20 years I have been stashing, storing, accumulating, collecting, studying, living, working, the emergency preparedness lifestyle. I have hundreds if not thousands of packages of seeds, long-term storable foods, and lots and lots of peripherals. Now mind you some of it I’ll keep because I live in a hurricane state. But you would not believe the amount of shit that I threw out yesterday. I have been waiting for doom for 20 years. It will probably come one day but I’m at a point where I just don’t shiv a git any more. I remember back in 1999 it was India and Pakistan, then 9/11, then operation shock and awe, and you know the rest. From Y2K to the 2005 polar shift. Hell I used to teach a class on earth changes, helping everyone else prepare for the flip-flop the earth was going to do. In 2004 Aussie Bloke made his appearance here on GLP. We packed the cars and headed for the mountains. Nothing happened. It was a great trip! In in 2011 I found myself in an interesting situation helping a young man packaging seeds for an emergency preparedness company that was about to be created. But I didn’t know that at the time. I ended up working for this company for about eight years, getting company discounts on my emergency supplies was a great thing. I bought food, seeds, water purification, lighting and solar power things, and I cannot tell you how much more because it’s still stashed and buried. I’m going to dig it out today and throw out what I don’t want and keep the rest. Bottom line, there was no doom. There is no doom. I have read countless books, listened to lectures and attended tradeshows and self-reliance expos on emergency preparedness. I made a decent living over the years, and couldn’t believe all of the useless crap I had accumulated with the money that I made working for this company. It’s going in a yard sale this weekend. I am literally ashamed of myself for wasting all of those resources. I bought things I didn’t need but wanted and now I’m tossing them out, selling, or giving shit away. I’m keeping most of my guns, some storable food and definitely my water filtration system. As far as I give a damn, this world could flip-flop now. I had enough. So who else on here has spent tens of thousand dollars on supplies they never needed? Did the exact same thing about a year ago. If the SHTF tomorrow, I'm going to take whatever I want from whoever I want. Fuck it. |
