Let me translate this:

You, as a slave, will be allowed to buy nothing, own nothing, you'll live cheaply in a small closet, you will eat crap, your children will be taken and taught to be slaves, far away from you and we will brainwash you into calling it freedom.

Does that sound right to anyone here?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76694552

yes it does
the greedy wealthy would take your blood from your veins and have you believe the love of your family is enslavement

their god is money and they have no soul
I see it first hand every day

living within your means is good advice
how about sharing your bounty with others, doing good for others and loving others?

I work for the greediest people I know, they have gotten worse over the years, they have zero regard for the people who work for them

I think about leaving but have a deep connection with some of the people there, some of the best people I know

my life is about doing for others, helping my children, not hoarding my money while living a meager lifestyle

a life without loved ones would not be worth living
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 51397186

I don't need to have kids to love people =]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71063173

This isn't about having children, it's about owning nothing and living like a pauper, like your "betters" think you should.

procreate and fuck others

I really doubt that it does, but it feels right to me, even though I still have a long way to go to achieve this lifestyle.

Please understand, I am not advocating dropping out of society completely. I am only suggesting a different way to live in the crazy world today.

But, each to his own.

It's far more expensive to rent than to own in the long run.
 Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn

Another big lie.

How exactly could it even be close???

Rents are cheaper, property taxes never go away even if a mortgage is paid off, all repairs are on the home owner but not the renter. Even if the home is later sold at a “profit”, people never account for interest paid during the mortgage, just principle costs and home sale price, nevermind the money that would never get spent in the first place if you rented.

Not to mention PMI, home owners insurance, inspections, closing costs... and all the stuff that gets forgotten about.

I intend to own this home one day, but the rest of it is me.

I don't date, in fact, I just go the market twice a month, other than that I go to work and back home.

I am in good health and great physical shape.

I keep to myself and in a few years when my kids leave home and I retire, I will be as free as humanly possible in the US.

Yes I'm trying to convince my GF soon to be wife to live a more traditional way of life.

I try to keep our family away from artificial needs.

Why buy new stuff when things are still functional?

Neither of us care much for looks vanity or popularity.

It's all so fake.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72321609

Off topic, but I need to ask, why do you need to be LEGALLY married?

What do YOU as a man gain from doing that? I know what SHE gains from that, what do YOU gain?

Think about what I'm asking you.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76384217

Its more of a little "pretend marriage" with friends and family nothing big and fancy we both came to the agreement that legal marriage is stupid and just a piece if paper with no meaning except too the government.

We have been friends for about 20 years and dated on and off for about 8 of those years and have remained very close the whole time. Now we have a kid and realized it's meant to be and both plan on never leaving our son like our parents did both of us so a pretend marriage is what she wants to do with tattoo rings because she thinks jewelry is stupid.

I dunno man seems silly I know.

Wasn't my idea that's for sure lol.

But I do love her and my son so sure
why not I ain't going nowhere and if it will put her mind at ease then whatever...

Girls just wanna a be married even if it's not "real".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72321609

I wouldn’t do tattoo rings. If she does leave(hopefully not)or dies you will never be able to get rid of the tattoo. Just get real rings.

I take it you are a man OP. Traveling on ones own then is usually not a problem. It is for a woman who always has to watch her back. Unless she is old and ugly. Even then she has to be very careful. Women get taken advantage of everywhere. Men will never understand this.

2 fellows who had family wealth plus their own, after working for years and supporting their children went up the mountain here (Elphinstone) and both built off grid cabins illegally about a half mile apart. They did it together since doing it solo would get boring. They have all the mod cons (composting toilets and all).

Neither have regretted it, and now they earn money from Chinese tourists who walk the few miles uphill to sit and have tea with one or both of them. Modern monks. Though you will see them at the bar now and then picking up women for the night. That is the freedom that comes once you have fufilled your biological role of parenting and made enough money to not care about money any longer.
If you are not busy weaving your own magick, you are trapped in anothers spell.

Is it?

How much is your happiness worth?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76384217

Not far more.

How much is spent on mowing by a homeowner in a lifetime? I spend about $400 a year probably. That's $16,000 in 40 years. You will replace your roof once or twice so add $5,000.

You will buy every appliance 4 times. Add $9,000.

New flooring probably once. Repaint the place probably once. Plumbing problems? Septic or a well...more costs.

Assuming appreciation of your home you will come out ahead. But that may not really be something that should be assumed now that we have a negative birth rate.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77406324

It’s worth it to know that no landlord has a key to enter my home anytime while I’m away and that the value of the house will be returned to me when I sell it. And the skills you learn and satisfaction you get from improving your own home feels better than calling a landlord to fix things.

Yes. I'm letting go of this world before it can get its hooks in me.

I have a single wide trailer, a cat, tools, some vehicles/toys, and almost no furniture. I chill in a hammock and sleep on the floor. I still am trying to get rid of more stuff and shave it all down to what I can fit in one or two truck beds and that's it.

If you don't have a relationship with God you need all the entertainment and material things this world can offer. People are too easily fascinated by technology that really isn't all that interesting to me. It's just gimmicky junk.

The elites are brainwashing you into this. Take the blinders off they’ve put on you and see how they want you to create your own poverty. They want to take everything from you, even other people! Thy want to make YOU a nothing! They don’t want YOU consuming so they can have it all!

clappa

Just remember, what mainstream preaches, turn 180 degrees and start from there.

Being alone and comfortable with yourself is not abnormal or wrong. Not bowing down to authority is the correct way to live, not a disorder.

Those who can't be by themselves are the ones with a problem. Those who need to be constantly entertained and surrounded by people are the ones in need of help. Not being able to spend time with your own thoughts should be one of the greatest alarms of danger there is in this reality.

But mainstream takes what is healthy and flips it. It sells more of their products. It makes them more money. The self sufficient happy lone wolf that is kind and understanding is a threat to their plans.

Be not afraid. No not hid your face in shame. You are as it should be, not the idol they try to sell you.

I live better than billionaires on 30k a year, seriously. For example they float around on a yaught where they don't even get wet. I float on a tube, have river otters swim by me, get out eat figs and berries fresh from the tree/bush.
