Obviously consumerism is not the great thing that we have been told that it is.

If it was, people wouldn't be so depressed, sad, angry and lost.

More does bring happiness.

In fact, I believe that less does.

I do enough of that so that the status quo cannot survive of people like me.

It is the pious way, good and spiritual. You can get the same result without the suffering, by giving freely and accepting no gifts or favors, and only use a fraction of what you earn to not suffer and have some hobbies or things you like.

Consumerism means that the more we own, the more we must:

- Protect
- Store
- Pay for.
- Move
- Maintain
- Clean
- Sell later.

We spend our lives paying for and taking care of "stuff" that we don't even enjoy that much. It doesn't really bring us happiness, on the contrary, it makes us feel trapped, poor, depressed and in debt.

Having a spouse and having children are two of the biggest traps that humanity faces.

Travel? That's not cheap or simple these days, it's a horror show.

So what type of job to get that will help you travel? And iyou have to own something in order to have a job and to travel. You have to have some place to live. Unless you want to panhandle and live out of a backpack. Or you couch surf or just have a lot of roommates to lessen the cost but then you can can’t live alone then.

I didn't say it was cheap. I didn't say that you should not spend money. I said not to buy, collect and carry around "stuff" you don't need.

Don't have debt.

Don't buy things you don't need.

Live alone.

If you do this, you can afford to travel.

Traveling around by oneself can get lonely and boring. And for women downright dangerous. It’s nice to have someone around to help just in case there is trouble or you get sick. Nice to have another watch your back. And you watch theirs.

That's because it makes everything that they believe in a lie and a mistake.

Many people married with a bunch of kids will agree with this philosophy either, but I'm ok with that.

Few could or would want to live like I do, but that's all right with me.

I always travel alone and I love it! No one to tell me where to visit, what to do, what to eat and what to experience.

Being alone does NOT mean that you must be lonely.

In truth, loneliness is a human weakness.

Oh, by the way, I don't need anyone "to watch my back". Ever.

It's far more expensive to rent than to own in the long run.

I've got a community wide garage sale coming up and I'm going to try and unload a ton of stuff. Minimalism is the way to go. I also like owning things that are untitled like bikes. I use that bike for everything local.

It depends. Houses need to be maintained. And if you aren’t good at that you need to hire out for help. That gets expensive.
