Does that sound right to anyone here? Not far more. How much is spent on mowing by a homeowner in a lifetime? I spend about $400 a year probably. That's $16,000 in 40 years. You will replace your roof once or twice so add $5,000. You will buy every appliance 4 times. Add $9,000. New flooring probably once. Repaint the place probably once. Plumbing problems? Septic or a well...more costs. Assuming appreciation of your home you will come out ahead. But that may not really be something that should be assumed now that we have a negative birth rate. |

Does that sound right to anyone here? I live better than billionaires on 30k a year, seriously. For example they float around on a yaught where they don't even get wet. I float on a tube, have river otters swim by me, get out eat figs and berries fresh from the tree/bush. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75598709 Ohhhhhhhhhh to swim and float with the otters - you are the richest man or woman that I know today! Your wealth is incalculable!! I'm thinking when I move I'll throw the bed out and add another 3" memory foam to the cot and sleep on it. |

Does that sound right to anyone here? traveling wears out your car. I like to stay put and use my bike for transportation. I'm projecting that my car will last 18-20 years. Its over 12 right now. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10485453 Mine is 20 years old with 335K miles on it. It's my daily driver. The van has almost as many miles and I only use it when I need to for hauling or camping. Everything's bought cash or not at all. I see no point in traveling unless it will get you laid. |

Wake up. maybe, but when you have to much shit it starts to weigh heavily on you, so much stuff to maintain, your things become your prison. It does feel good to get rid of the shit you don't use. |

Does that sound right to anyone here? Sounds like someone who is homeless. When it gets down to basics running clean water for a hot bath or shower, roof overhead, fire in fireplace on cold snowy days, company of a beloved spouse, cats and dog, eat simply and a home that is paid for works best for us. The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. Does that sound right to anyone here? Your happiness is owning land and a home, having an inheritance for your children. Its not owning nothing and then when you're older all the rentals are more than your income and your kids are homeless. You'd want to off yourself. Happiness is providing for your family and solving problems to ensure that no one is homeless. And being creative and sharing time together along the way.
