prism, all kids start with a prism before moving on to a magnifying glass and ant hills.

Go to a thrift store, garage sale....give them a few dollars. They will pick out some of the most surprising things. They will love it more then anything too. An old Barbie, a stuffed animal, an outside toy. Kids love simple things. A little blow up pool with some bubbles, a slip and slide, hula hoops. I tried finding a Chinese jump rope but I'm not sure if they make them anymore.

should say what good are toys? that is what I see then I look again and see it is the other way? hard to believe this toys for tots is such a hassle huh?

chickens:
They can gather the eggs every day; clean the eggs and pack them in their boxes; clean the hen house when needed and everyday add clean hay in the hen's laying boxes. Then they can take the excess eggs from door to door selling them. They can put the chickens in the hen house and lock the door every evening so the wild animals cannot kill them, and let them out every morning and feed and water them. A piano is a nice
toy, learning to play it takes up many hours of their time.
nice guns and bullets for hunting, butchering and leather-making etc. Ballet, singing and knitting lessons for the girls.- and organ lessons. Nice, new snow shovels for both brother and sister.- and new rag-mops for sanitizing the hardwood floors and steps. Beautiful material for quilt-making. Sharp axe for firewood. Donkey for shopping and paper-route, visiting friends etc.

A huge cardboard box. Trust me, you can buy them the best and most expensive toy on the market and it will never compare to the joy a child gets from playing with a large cardboard box. It never fails.

Ok, one Christmas my aunt, out of the blue, bought me a chia pet and it was one of my favorite memories of all time. Seems weird, but I loved it and it just made my whole year.
