There is a housing shortage. Charities I have approached don’t seem phased by my plight in the least. I contacted one church in Titusville but if you do not attend every service and take part in their programs, they shun you. Pews were mostly empty. Pastor was cocky and intimidating. I went to library to talk to a foodstamp worker and was pointed in her direction but she was tied up for an hour and I was working so went to front desk to ask about an appointment and the lady simply ignored me to a point I had no choice but to leave. They say: Do This. Do That. Go here. Go there. And when I do, there is either nothing there, “we don’t serve single senior citizens, jus women with children, or they tell me something different or i don’t qualify. It is like the Twilight Zone. Talked to other people living in the park, and it is the same with them. Quoting: Original Bunnyswanson Yep If you are a single male, your are shit out of luck on getting any help. |

The entire country does revolve around you. Many disagree, and many would like an economy which is taxed and serves for the good of all. I want to see universal basic income put in place. Everyone would get a guaranteed income.... no matter who you are. Wouldn't you prefer that your kids and your kid's kids to not have to worry about making money to merely survive? With the coming AI industrial changes... with automation and stuff, this is what's going to happen. Spending on military and homeland security is a small percentage of tax dollar. Majority is social programs...period. You are joking right? Its not even close. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76638889 All of them could have roofs over their heads with just 2% of the current US military spending budget. Its not the government's proper role to house people in the first place. Gov't is there to promote the welfare of it's citizens!! Not sure what better way to do that then by providing them with the means to have life's necessities!! Question #22: The student will, in a complete sentence, describe the difference between the following words: - "promote" - "provide" |

And I don't think anyone is expecting anyone to take anyone into their homes..... We're just talking about using tax dollars in a way that would actually benefit humanity. Tax dollars...what a joke. Keep relying on the tit of the government. We do not need a military. The whole military thing is one big gigantic RACKET Profiteering. Of all people, GLPer's should know this. We all need to wake up "You can not achieve peace through war." Yeah uhm the Japanese haven't piped up since1945. |

Quoting: ^EyeSeeAll^ Clearly if you're not working and/or homeless, you either want to be that way or need more help than being given money or housing. I have no problem with people being homeless and out of sight and not doing drugs in public or being nude or yelling weird shit as you walk by with your kids, but I honestly believe most of them are where they want to be or where they have to be. I'm sure most homeless people would want to have a home rather than not. You are quite naive. The vast majority of "homeless" people here in the states don't want to be a part of society. They live off of panhandling. It is a subculture here that will never be "solved" because there will always be a certain percentage of people who are lazy. If so many do not want shelter, then how come so many are living out of tents and not sleeping on the sidewalk? You've clearly never actually been to the west coast if you think homelessness can't be a lifestyle choice. Having a mortgage vs. illegally squatting in a shitty old tent in a public or private area are two completely different things tardmaster.
