Since when is olive oil listed in every recipe? Do I look like a Greek? | |

[link to www.cooc.com (secure)] I guess you live in a cocoon. Crisco sucks...coconut butter is superior for cooking really followed by butter if you are a decent cook and understand flashpoints and what not...olive oil is better then canola which is a GMO product (Canola=Canada Oil and is GMO'd rape seed...think on that). If you are not busy weaving your own magick, you are trapped in anothers spell. “It’s time you realized that you have something in you more powerful and miraculous than the things that affect you and make you dance like a puppet.” – Marcus Aurelius |

Don't use it for frying, even though I don't fry anything, anyway. Seems superior to me than canola or bullshit vegetable oil. I use butter towards the end on top of the olive to finish for taste depending on what I'm cooking...... |

Coconuts do not make "butter." That must be a non natural product. |

Butter for anything that you want to taste good. Corn oil or rape seed oil (canola) for a quick wipe down of a pan or to grease the grill grates. I could argue corn oil for pop corn. Corn oil is also good for frying whole turkey once it is seasoned with other oils and fats. Lard is necessary for making masa dough for tamales. Lard is also best for pan fried southern chicken. Bacon grease is the go to fat for any flavoring. Duck or goose fat for Freedom Fries. Rendered turkey or chicken fat for Creole roux. Coconut oil is great for general saute or for popcorn. |

It is likely an olive oil if sold as such, but not extra virgin--most are a rip off. Olive oil is not practical for all needs, but it is certainly the most healthy. If you see extra virgin olive oil at the same price as Crisco something ain't right. |
