Some went on to opiates, some to cocaine and other drugs, but the FIRST DRUG OF CHOICE was POT. For a couple of them, pot ruined their lives VERY young. Why anyone would fool around with that garbage is beyond me. The potheads here will scream bloody murder if you suggest anything negative about their beloved weed, but I know what I saw. Some people have to learn the hard way. They are "BORN TO LOSE". (might as well have that tattooed on their foreheads backwards, to remind them) I'm 61, and totally know where your coming from. Have to agree with all you've said. Those of my peers that did pot regularly in high school were for the most part in dead end jobs at our 30 year reunion.....pot puts a major damper on enthusiasm to excel in life...….. |

Then marijuana has too be legal and accepted in society. The harmful effects of alcohol are orders of magnitude more dangerous than marijuana. So if some people who would otherwise be alcoholics, choose instead to smoke marijuana then it's a net benefit to society. While psychological damage and addiction to marijuana is not unheard of, I believe the societal effects of alcoholism and other entry level substance addiction like opiates are much more harmful as a whole. People are going too use substances for the foreseeable future, the focus should be on harm reduction not prohibition. |
