Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77681710 I went to pre school with Fuzzy Thurston's kid. Dad worked at KC in Neenah, we lived out in the country up a hill from Lake Winnebago. We'll miss Bart Starr, he was one of our favorites, the end of an era and a real gentleman. When the Packers were in the championship game in 1964, my father bought a color TV to watch Bart Starr play; The set was quite expensive back then. It had a tiny 13 inch screen, like watching a small laptop across the room....but it was COLOR. Great story! |

How about we all care for blackjack players at the MGM? How about we care about the best ever poker player? How about we care about the dude who could pee the furthest over a cactus? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70847822 Well done humanity. And the world cares because Bart was a man of high character in addition to being a great football player. A great player who never had the natural gifts others may have. A great man who during and after his career was involved with any number of activities and events to make people's lives better with no expectation of publicity, reward, or recognition. A man who lived literally across the street from the rest of us and not in a gated compound or a multi-million dollar mansion, and he and his wife would wave and say "hi" just like any neighbor. You, sir or madam, should know who you're talking about lest you look like an even more bitter ass than is already the case. Today's athletes could, in many cases, take a lesson from the way Starr played, competed, and lived his life. RIP, Bart.
