By far the most accurate war movie ever done was Midway.

That was so far off of reality that Mad Magazine did a piece about the movie called "Hurl Harbor" and one of their main points is "This movie insulted the totally respectable women of that era by making them look like whores" and they had the parachute scene.

If a war movie is going to be accurate, it has to be ACCURATE. Midway wins HANDS DOWN.

possibly know. But I really liked the 2017 version of
'Tuntematon Sotilas', biased as I am.

Also among personal favourites is 'Nanjing - City Of Life
And Death' (2009). Every single scene a masterpiece.

I doubt any movie comes close to reality. The first part would be dull, followed by moments so gory few could watch it without nightmares for years after, and even then I doubt they could carry the full impact that a real vet goes through as friends are shot or blown apart, and so many other horrors that must be faced, like a man finding his brothers shattered body blasted in two by a bomb, and children left homeless and alone.

I guess many people here are too young to have seen Midway. All the stuff being listed is recent. If you want to see an awesome and totally accurate war movie, watch Midway.

Soldier of Fortune Magazine said that "Bravo Two Zero" was the most accurate movie of the time. Now, I would vote for "Hunter Killer" hands down, and if you havent seen it, go rent the Blu Ray and toss it up on the big screen, you wont be sorry.
