The worst post-nasal drip (PND) in my life.
Being sick is the easy part. When the cold is done and your sinuses are still full draining down the back of your throat when you try to sleep - well that is the hard part.

Normally a couple of days of PND and it's behind you. Well I am into week 2 of it and no end in sight. Doctor has prescribed me a nasal steroid but it doesn't work. Leading up to it, I've tried everything:

Throat lozenges, cough syrup, over-the-counter nose spray, neti pot, and honey-lemon-cinnamon mixture. Even went so far as to get liquored up on rye.

A hot shower cleans out the pipes for an hour or so but the sinuses fill up again :(

There used to be a prescription med available in Canada called cough-a-lac but no longer available. Can't even find it on the web. It is a hydrocodone compound (opioid) that deadens the part of the brain that triggers a cough. Addicting if used long term.

2 to 3 drops in a glass of water and your cough mechanism was turned off for about 6 hours. Apparently that is a health risk. Well I am here to tell you that sleep deprivation is a bigger health risk.

My doctor will not prescribe a hydrocodone compound because it is too extreme and not recommend to treat a snot cough only a dry cough.

Fuck the fucking doctors!

Allergies are off the charts up north. Sinus problems are about the worst I've ever had.

Pollen is heavy this spring. Usually a sign of a threat to the trees and they reproduce in more abundance.

I've been tested for allergies and I do not have any.

You need antihistamine to dry the sinuses.

Try the first generation types as they have a use life of 4 hours...that way you can control the dosing.

Skip the new ones at 24 hour doses.

I prefer the old school, Chlor-Trimeton. Get generic at about 4 bucks for a bottle of 50 or so.

Benadryl is another.

All those other compounds are for other symptoms.

Dry it out.

Re: The worst post-nasal drip (PND) in my life.
Hydrogen Peroxide in a nebulizer, inhale through nose and mouth, deeply, several times zx several times per day.
You will feel relief within a day or two but keep it up for longer.
You have something growing in your sinuses and need to kill it off.
OTC drugs, Dr drugs will only mask the symptoms and will cause other problems in doing so.

Hydrogen Peroxide at 3% (drug store variety) cannot harm you even at "full strength". If you can't get a nebulizer, try a nasal mister bottle... it's worth getting a nebulizer though, because this won't be the last time you need it.

Something like this... [link to www.amazon.com (secure)]

Pollen was so bad here I took the vehicle through the drive through wash at the ultimate price and it cleaned it up real good.
My tear duct section of the eyes are hard as a rocks and swollen, i have a large sore lump right beside my right ear on my face, it makes me feel sleepy.
I have plugs in my tear ducts and it still got them flared up.

Yes, you need to try an antihistamine. It is also possible you have a sinus infection and could possibly need antibiotics.

Heroin or another opioid will dry you out.

Start taking T-3's.

I have the same problem, after having had the flu and then the non-flu--respiratory syncytial virus for months.

What are T-3s?

Tylenol 3's with 30mg of codeine.

But, I think you incessant whining is the problem.

Saw a video on this one time where it carried on for months. Turns out it was leaking spinal and brain fluid. Might want to check that out.

You don't need that hydrocodone shit anyway. It's terrible for you. What you need is a legit packet of Sudaphed. Not that fake shit. The real stuff. You know it's real when the active ingredient is pseudoephedrine. You might have to show them an ID, but if you can get that, you'll be golden.

I actually have a very nice small nose.
And how would you know what I do incessantly, except attempt to correct ignorance here and there?

Your problem is worse, buddy.
Maybe it's the drugs.

You need to ask for the real Sudafed. Behind the counter. Also.. Put a "dream pillow" under your face when sleeping. You can buy them or make them. Fresh dried herbs. Lavender, mint, chamomile. You will breath so much better. Helps with snoring too. The herbs don't cost much. They usually sell the cloth pouches you can stuff them and the the end.

Re: The worst post-nasal drip (PND) in my life.
I've been battling PSN for the last three weeks, making me batshit crazy with the mucus running down my throat, can't get it out of my head, tilted my head down for 20 to 30 minutes and I got some relief, just sharing in case it could help someone out there.
