"Air fryers" have been around since the early 80s, only then they were called "convection ovens"

does it work as a steamer too? I sure could use something other than my oven heating up the house too. I bake my chicken thighs and legs with skin on 400 for 40 minutes, I had no idea the air fryer can do the same thing. How many legs and thighs can you put in there?

No. You are bold face lying. You are saying that you make "fried chicken" when you cannot. You are saying "no oil" when THAT is also a lie. I want to know why you are lying?

Super crispy fried chicken without having to heat up a grill or your whole house with the oven. Way easier to clean than my George Foreman which I used almost every day of my life. I thought these things were just a stupid contraption and thank God someone gave me this as a gift! Life changing.

Re: My air fryer is the greatest thing I have ever owned
In summary, the Air Fryer is the new "must have" status symbol of the American underclass, who think it's cooking to throw frozen industry foods into the reheat box or roll a few chicken parts in the ready-made glutamate spice mix.

That the lobbyist lie that fat is unhealthy is the result of a scientific fraud designed to take sugar - the real poison - out of the line of fire, just adds insult to injury.

We don't feel like having the whole countertop full of electronic junk and a dozen China plastic cans, so we use a toaster oven with air fry function, which also almost completely replaces our regular oven and can perfectly bake both bread and cakes, evenly brown and crisp toast and fries, and also cook a whole chicken.

Lol we have a walk in pantry the bottom shelf consists of appliances that havent been used once or twice in their lifetime. Air Corn popper, Deluxe Mixer with all the attachments, Food processor, Food dehydrator, Pasta Maker, espresso machine. Mini steam cleaner and few other odds and ends.
 Quoting: BBQ BOY™

Many people are easily convinced to buy all that stuff because they think it will improve their quality of life.

It is consumption against one's own dissatisfaction and unfulfillment.

Doesn't work of course - or only very temporarily...

Learning to cook properly in a classical way is a better solution.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79653701

I do almost all the cooking in the house, have for over 25 years now, so most of these items were birthday or Christmas gifts. Other than a Glass Lid Stainless Steel cookware set I bought 6 years ago, this is the first small appliance I've bought myself.

Sous vide is the only true way to cook. Searing is necessary for many recipes but an air frier is garbage
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11489613

Sous vide is nice and many instapots have that feature, although it's a stretch to call it the only way to cook.a reverse seared steak that is started in a low temp oven and then seared is a little tastier than a sous vide steak. A sous-vide is useless for dishes and that have a lot of sauce like orange chicken, but an electric pressure cooker is ideal for these dishes.

and a question for introspection.. hows the air fryer going to work for you if your electricity is off for any reason..... or your electric stove?

I always have a gas stove.. lesser risk with it... and a little camp stove should that be needed. and my wonderful iron skillets etc.

You ones need to look at these possibilities in this over changing planet from all causes.

Yeah I thought they were stupid too, then we got a hand me down one and we use it every day. You can cook anything in it very quickly. Reheat wings in a few minutes. I dont eat them often but try cooking hot dogs in it.....cut slices so they dont bust. 6 mins at 400. put in bun and put bun and dog back in for 1 minute. put cheese in the bun if you want. nice and toasty grilled flavor.

yeah but full sized convection oven uses alot of energy....esp if you just want to heat up 6 wings.....or a hand full of fries.
