Pooka (OP) User ID: 77665716 United States 06/17/2019 08:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After reading an article today on drudge, really getting concerned (africans coming across the border with rolls of 100 dollar bills - and I tried posting the article here, but wasn't allowed to, for some reason). The article is on the american mirror. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77707294 Pooka, I asked this on another thread, but will ask here. Are you already wearing the nitrile gloves, masks, and goggles out in public right now? And if you are, like when you go to a grocery store, how to other people react (like fear, complacent acceptance, anger, rudeness, totally ignoring it, etc)? I'm just wondering at what point you feel the need to wear these protective items, and if so, does it produce local panic in the community, or whatever it does... Thank you. Rolls of hundred dollar bills! I would love such a roll, but not at the cost of my soul! AC 7294, I live in a very small town, some distance from cities. To date we have seen no new residents such as might have come from the affected countries, nor has there been any information about such coming here or having come here. I will be wearing white cotton gloves next time I go out shopping, since groceries are shipped from there around the country to here, handled perhaps by many. I do not go out often, so that is why I have not begun. The mask - not just yet, here. If I lived in Cincinnati, Portland, Maine, or Chicago - I'd be wearing all three for the past 3-4 weeks. So - I believe much is geographical. Exposure here at this time is highly unlikely, but will become more likely as time passes and people have mingled more with those possibly infected, and those they already infected. The goggles will be the only scary part for observers, I believe. That takes it up several notches. SOme here have plans to wear literal gas masks. Can you envision the reaction in a grocery store to a couple of people entering in gas masks? Not good from any direction. And of course police will be called, and mask wearers will be forced to remove masks, totally negating any good they may have done, as well as getting them a police blotter write-up as "weird" or something equally unflattering, and likely a second write-up, this time in the newspaper! They can only hope they are not identified in that article, though they will have been on the police blotter. If the gas mask people think about it, I am sure they will understand that to get the N100 or P100 mask and wear it will be far more protective than one they had to remove, and see that they could wear the slightly less shocking mask is possible at any time. Wish there were goggles that looked far more like normal glasses, but we can't have everything, I suppose. I'm curious why you are so very curious as to whether I am currently using protective gear. Quoting: Hnry Bwmn Or sick with ebola? Since "measles" is now the code word for "ebola", at least in this country, how are we to know who has what? We don't - they appear the same in the beginning. And of course those with ebola can be ill up to 21 days before becoming symptomatic, so they would pass right through the temperature check. The worst of the worst is that we are not told the truth about anything, and are left to try to understand the facts on our own. Our only recourse is to prepare, to watch, to talk as we do in this thread, and to try to be ready for anything that comes. I would just add that we have now the likelihood of war, possible nuclear attack to whatever degree on Iran, and the fact that world food production is way down due to weather anomalies, and in our country so badly decimated as to make at least one person say food prices will be up fifty percent by fall. Too much going on for us not to take great notice and try to prepare our households for every eventuality. The worst is ebola since there is no known cure, but much of what we do for ebola is similar to what is needed for food shortages, with the addition of protective gear and sheltering in place, and for war again sheltering in place we are able to do our best for each possiblity. Quoting: Pooka Because it's a reasonable and natural question to ask! In light of all your commendable efforts here to inform readers of some suspicious goings-on in the country when the public media will not, your personal opinion on when it might be a good idea to start taking active precautions does carry some importance. I don't think you're scare-mongering in the least, though there are certainly a few here who do: you report and inform and anybody who's going to bother to read your reports in the first place is listening to your opinions. |

[link to m.youtube.com (secure)] I don't think anybody will want to discuss ebola publicly until after an epidemic is obvious. Do not panic the public, remember. Don't tell the public until it is too late. Keep them going to work, earning their pittance, and paying all their taxes. Can't stop that! Also cannot answer any questions about why this was allowed to happen - why ebola came here in the first place. The only thing a president will be able to do is declare martial law, and if you read the facts about that, there are no further elections and president is president for life after declaring martial law.
