OP I dont know if it works for tics but it works for most other bugs.

Get some borax or born from you local grocery store

mix in into a solution of water, put it into a hand pump sprayer and spray the piss out of your yard

food grade DE
spread it around your walking areas like a dusting of snow

Wild turkeys can eat 200 ticks per day

as are spiders

my truck was covered in webs this morning.

I still want to get some to this very day

Garlic Marrier works great for your yard. It repels the icky ones and the good ones..bees, butterflies and hummingbirds are not offended. I also use it around my plants for the munchers ..keeps them healthy and the plants seem to love it.
Eat plenty of garlic too.

We’re at a campground in North Carolina and the tic’s are everywhere!
Took a shower and had three crawling above my head. We are in a rural area but there are few animals, which there should be, and not very many other insects, haven’t even seen a squirrel or rabbit. If there isn’t much wild life for the tics then why are there so many this year? Very strange!

i have several adult chickens and 4 young turkeys but the reality is they will only do so much on 12 acres. too many deer and other wild animals walk through the property to access the stream (and of course try to eat my chickens themselves)

just seems like its a constant losing battle. past couple winters have had some super harsh/cold weeks, but it seems every year they come back worse and worse.

keep those ideas flowing.

if shit really did hit the fan, i imagine many will succumb to tick-carried illnesses.

it is my understanding that the PA amish have strict protocol... after a day of work, they undress outside 100% and have partners examine each other. literally flop each others balls around.

I had guinea hens on my farm. Never saw a tick or chigger after that.

Unfortunately, the guineas were eaten by a bobcat.

Gotta trap that cat and get some more guineas.

i don't want to say it but the mosquitos haven't really hatched out here in the rice fields yet...but then again i don't think many have the fields even ready to plant yet due to all the rain. not a farmer though so i may be wrong, but the field next to my house just got worked up this week during the couple dry days.

have had a bad outbreak of fleas though, which we have NEVER had before

gotta be all the water here in arkansas this year changing things.

doesn't matter who set the ball in motion at this point. imho, ticks need as much forethought into your SHTF scenario as food and water, unless you plan on living in rodent free deep underground bunkers for the duration.

i havent noticed more ticks than usual but the fleas have exploded here and i have never seen them like this in all of my twenty four years in this house.
its super bad.
i just made some lemon water after letting it steep overnight..been cleaning with it, spraying it all over the place, just to repel any fleas on the floors and furniture...

i even sprayed down the dog with it, he was NOT happy about that.
it was diluted so it wasnt full strength on him.
i hope it works, i dont mind a once a week kind of spray thats fine, but daily spraying is just out of the question.

we have guinneas too, and were killed or flew away (they like to roam far from the coop). I tried to do a guinnea hatch with a full hova but only got 2 chicks- one is super scraggly and probably wont survive. I need to replace my hova-bator, I don't think its maintaining temp well. ill probably start another thread on "favorite 'budget' poultry incubators too.
