I have ALWAYS known it was the third Thurs! So much so that I even made my vacation week this year the third week.

Went to go book an RV for it and found out it's the fourth Thursday. And when I looked it up online trying to figure out why it was so late this year, everything said it's always been the fourth Thurs.

Ok... Who else remembers it ALWAYS being the third Thursday?

If so, it would mean it could fall as early as the 15th of Nov. That has never happened in my 44 years here on Earth. No, I do not believe it's ever fallen on the third Thursday...and if it's usually around the 23rd (as most here claim), than that's not likely possible, either, mostly because that would be the last date it could fall on and still be within the third week of Nov. The Law of Probability says it's much more likely to fall within the fourth week.

As 1941 ended, Roosevelt made the final permanent change, as he signed a bill making Thanksgiving Day fall on the fourth Thursday of November, regardless of if it is the last Thursday of the month or not. And for 2019, you may be thinking, "When is Thanksgiving?" This year, the month of November begins on a Friday, which means the fourth Thursday of the month falls on Nov. 28—it's the first time Thanksgiving has been this late since 2013.

USA legal holiday Thanksgiving was held on the THIRD Thursday of November UNTIL 1941 !!! when Congress changed it to Fourth Thursday!

Last year Thanksgiving fell on the 22nd (the 4th Thursday). This gives retailers 32 days of sales before Christmas. For stores dependent upon Christmas sales, the worst is when Thanksgiving falls on the 28th, which is only 26 days of shopping.
