Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31801844 If it falls on Mon thru thurs than that makes it so there is a full week still after the holiday. That tricks my stupid brain into thinking it's the third week. If it falls on Friday or Saturday only once every 7 yrs then it's on the last week. It's just an illusion Wow. You just got the "update." This "update" shit you guys talk about is partly why people don't take Mandela Effect seriously. Stop with that stupid shit. You make it sound like people are NPCs or robots. The only thing that makes you special snowflakes is your propensity to mental retardation. Now if you want to talk about Mandela Effect like an adult, I'm all ears. I typed that rather tongue in cheek. I'm still on the fence about "updates." But, since you are determined to be "Asshole Internet Warrior" in your reply to me, I can only conclude that you are not capable of having an adult conversation with anyone. Good day! |

That has never happened in my 44 years here on Earth. No, I do not believe it's ever fallen on the third Thursday...and if it's usually around the 23rd (as most here claim), than that's not likely possible, either, mostly because that would be the last date it could fall on and still be within the third week of Nov. The Law of Probability says it's much more likely to fall within the fourth week. |

And for 2019, you may be thinking, "When is Thanksgiving?" This year, the month of November begins on a Friday, which means the fourth Thursday of the month falls on Nov. 28—it's the first time Thanksgiving has been this late since 2013. |

If it's ever fallen on the third Thursday of the month, it could never fall on any date later than the 21st. So, all you people who remember the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th being the most popular dates for Thanksgiving, must be in favor of it falling on the fourth Thursday. |

Thanks for the clarification but that's beside the point that the OP is attempting to make with this thread...that the date change is due to a "Mandela Effect". We are talking in the recent past. |

This gives retailers 32 days of sales before Christmas. For stores dependent upon Christmas sales, the worst is when Thanksgiving falls on the 28th, which is only 26 days of shopping. |

Our Costco (Pricesmart) has that stuff out in September. I worked for a goldsmith for the year that Christmas shopping season was only 26 days. It was interesting to see that the ore shopping days, the better the sales, which were fairly consistent day to day during the holidays. I hate Christmas after having to work retail during holidays. Never again. |

The first time it came up on the 4th week I made a comment that it was weird ("why is thanksgiving so late this year") and my family looked at me like I had a third eye. I know it used to be the 3rd week because I distinctly remember every year marking off how many Christmas shopping weeks there were and there used to always be 5 to 5.5....a whole extra week. |
