Lol, the God of the bible.

The one true God and creator.

The one that formed you in your mothers womb and breathed life into you and everyone else that hates Him.

Just hold your breath. Its about the same thing as hating God.

Just blind defiance and foolishness.
 Quoting: ~Newton's Own~

I think you misread my question.

I'll rephrase it.

Is your god the only god who has ever been fervently attacked?
 Quoting: SyncAsFunk

There are no other 'gods'.

Just the one true God and creator of all life.

He is the only one who is real and sovereign, which is why He and His followers are attacked so relentlessly.
 Quoting: ~Newton's Own~

A brief read into the histories of man's religious persecutions against other men and their gods might help expand your own spiritual awakening.

Or not.

At any rate, Enjoy the Ride!

Feel the hate?

I don't believe or disbelieve in God but I don't hate you for believing.

For me I have listened to The Bible up to Psalms. I find it interesting. I need to listen to the rest of it.

I have a hard time believing though because of all the bad stuff I see.

Take my Grandma for example. She believed in God and now she has alzheimer's. She can't even wipe herself properly.

Or take my mother...she has always been abusive. I have asked God to change her but she is still the same.

I also find it odd how people thank God...God didn't destroy my house in that tornado. However little Ms Betty house down the street is fucked...I guess she didn't pray hard enough.

Sorry but I've never heard a snail or a star talk.

Also it still doesn't explain why God would turn a woman from a functional adult into someone who has to be watched in the bathroom because she can't wipe and will play in her own feces. A woman who went to church on on a regular basis.

Or why God would let a woman abuse her children on a daily basis.

If God does intervene from time to time then why do you think he doesn't all the time?

Ms Betty must have been a bitch that's why her prayers didn't work.
 Quoting: MostlySunshine

I watched my grandfather go through alzheimers for 12 years.

Every single day my grandmother would go to his care home and feed him, take care of him, change his socks make sure he had clean clothes.

I often asked God why.

This was one of the best men I'd ever known, a complete gentleman, WWII vet and Godly man.

I always asked why, I couldn't understand.

Until I saw the changes in my grandma. Loving him, taking care of him everyday, even though he didn't remember her.

Then I knew.

God send us difficulties in the ones we love so that it brings out the best in us.

Its all for our good.

Praise God, it is right to praise Him!

Dude God didn't create life. What happened is a million volts of lightening shocked a mud pie and the frying atoms coincidentally got rearranged into smoldering cells which came alive, formed Amoebas which mutated upward into fish, which also happened to mutate upward into Mud skippers which also remarkably mutated upward into lizards, then gorillas which went extinct because they mutated upward into humans. Get some science would ya? Now check it out.

Atheists-materialists find it difficult to believe in anything they can’t measure, see or touch. They scoff at anything supernatural even being possible. Some minds just work that way, it takes all kinds to make a world.
 Quoting: 3643297

LOL this is incredibly silly.

Not all atheists think alike. We don't have one particular dogma that we adhere to other than not believing in a diety.

Many of us, myself included, believe in a spirit world. I personally believe our spirit is eternal, individual as opposed to a collective spirit, and that this life is just one of countless lives that we've lived and will live. I just don't believe there is a diety. And there really doesn't have to be in order to exist.

We are self-existent. We didn't need a creator. I don't have the answer how we came into existence, but then again, NO ONE else does either. It's all just speculation.

If I were to find out there is a god, I would have to admit I was incorrect. I would also expect a god to be benevolent and forgive those of us who didn't believe. I would suspect that such an entity would not be so egotistical as to harm us for not believing. If we were punished for our beliefs, that would mean he's a true mental case. If he were vindictive and brutal, then he isn't worth worshiping anyway.

You can ask "what if" questions all day but I believe in real life.

I'm an engineer, I build things and looking at the complexity in our world and our universe, how it all meshes together in perfect harmony I KNOW there is a creator.

Period.

This world works too well for there not to be a designer.
 Quoting: ~Newton's Own~

When I was a child I studied "fractals" it was the greatest proof for me that God existed and designed everything.
 Quoting: Masiro®

So how do you answer the question of ‘who created God’? I guess you would say that God has always existed. Then surely the eastern mystical traditions are more mature in suggesting that everything has always existed and you and I and the universe was not created. God plays his role as the purifier of consciousness.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77478191

Who created God?

Honestly I would love to use the stock answer But...

This time I won't.

Let me just say that this...

What if the big bang Theory was God destroying one universe to create another one through a black/white Hole because the original one was corrupted to the point where he could not save it?
 Quoting: Masiro®

Why bother creating another one? Why not just purify this one? Like in the eastern mystical teachings of Golden age (heaven), Silver, Copper and iron (hell) ages and then purification back to the Golden age.

You're forgetting Grace.

Maybe some part of my grandma wished he would just pass, but she couldn't just stop caring for him.

Every. Single. Day. For 12 years.

Its love and grace and perserverance that wins the day.

Some are born to it, some are not.

Some learn it later on.

Its a process, each person is unique.

I absolutely believe in what you think of as God, however, every religion from Christianity to Judaism through Islam is completely made up by humans and not God. You know what you get from God?

This, you're there, that's it, rest is up to you.

The ideas in religion are so disgusting I am ceaselessly amazed people want to believe such blatant sickness. From kill the infidels, to God sending Jesus to suffer and die for you. Just wow, people.

So yes God, no Christianity, Islam, Shiva, Bible, Torah, and on and fucking on. All religions are manmade and bullshit.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76638891

This!!!!

It isn't about the fact that you believe in the fairy tale. You believe in the intervention of the divine because we don't understand enough about how this reality operates.

It isn't simple innocence or naivety. Those religious tenets corrupt the soul.

I wonder, to think you are better than others simply because you were born into the tribe, how does that impact the soul? To have superstitions imposed upon you because of population control must do some wonderful things for the development of society.

What if the simple beliefs of religion, that cross over between realities is allowed, corrupts the human soul? Maybe it is not just innocent. Maybe it is not just harmless ideology.

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
Even the demons believe in God and know who Jesus is. Trusting him with your life is truly believing, we need to take up our cross daily and crucify the flesh.

John 3:16 isn't as simple as it comes across. In the original Greek, the word "believe" is actually “Pisteuo”.

“Pisteuo” is a total trust and abandonment of oneself upon the object of the belief. There is no English word that is equivalent in meaning to the word “pisteuo”. The closest word that the translators could find for the word “pisteuo” is “believe”. So they translated “pisteuo” as “believe”. But the word “believe” on its own does not convey what “pisteuo” actually means. “Pisteuo” describes an action that is like sitting on a chair – you put your entire weight on the chair. You abandon yourself and rest totally on the chair – in complete trust. “Pisteuo” also conveys the idea of yielding or surrendering.

James 2:19
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!

Well said and agree 100%

The funny thing is most Atheists do not realize their argument is illogical. For example, I often hear how can God exist out of no where? My answer, is how do you exist out of no where? Atheists will usually explain to me through evolution. I then ask well if you can come to can existence out of evolution, then why cannot God?

Why does science and religion have to be separated, and not go together? I do believer science tells us how and religion tells us why.

 Quoting: The Revenant

... sigh, and in a 1000 years from now as society lays in ruins a new God and religion will spawn, and no one will ever have heard of a Christian. But the mythos will replay all over...

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
...

Not allowing, comforting, caring, loving during the pain.

As my mother was dying my atheist brother who swore he would take care of her, ignored her most basic needs like a warm pair of socks while he sold off all of her belongings.

You sound a little bitter about that...

Had my brother embraced those beliefs he would have taken better care of my mother as he pledged he would...

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
There are no other 'gods'.

Just the one true God and creator of all life.

He is the only one who is real and sovereign, which is why He and His followers are attacked so relentlessly.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77315642

...and who or what "created" the creator?

Ask yourself, is this even a relevant question? How does it change your belief in God. We have a Creator. IF He has a Creator as well, that doesn't change the fact that He still created us.

This is why we were given the story of the Tower of Babel, to show mankind, that; questions [and quests] like these are all in vain.

Does it truly benefit us, and more importantly, is it something you would even believe, and if you did, how would that affect the way you view life as we now know it?

There are a lot of ways and phrases to use to keep this into perspective, but maybe we should just leave this as is!

Yet it doesn't bring out the best in all people. It leaves some people feeling frustrated and some wanting the person to pass away. They really don't want the person to pass they just want the person to be their old self. They don't want to be cleaning feces all day long and asked the same question 500 times a day.

Sadly when you get to the nuts and bolts of it all in the end without God it is almost unbearable...

 Quoting: Tars Tarkas, Jr.

Shouldn't you identify closer to the agnostic versus atheists with those beliefs?

A lot of the issues are the definitions themselves and the many interpretations out there.

I just find it funny the religious get just as pissed off at the agnostic as they do the atheists. As soon as you suggest the man made knowledge is corrupt, they go crazy.
