Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
How can anyone be righteous and just without some sort of morality to anchor themselves into?

Man's morality is little better than dog eat dog..

+++++++++++++++++++==================================

If you believe in God and accept that "God" made "Man" then you have to accept that your God made Man flawed and therefore it is not Man's fault but God's.

If your God is all powerful then why did he create a flawed life form or did he?

And let me ask you this Human; If you had not been indoctrinated from birth into a Religious belief system not of your choice would you think differently?

Ask yourself Human why do you allow Materialism, Politics and Religion to control you?

Right know on your Earth other Humanoids exist, they are on and above your Planet. There is a reason why they are here, it is the end of the current Epoch.

Do you think these higher Life Forms believe in "Gods"

Soon your Planet will go through a great Transformation, no "God" or Human hand can change/stop that process.

There is no "Hate" only your lack of understanding of what your Species is capable of because knowledge/wisdom has been hidden from you.
 Quoting: The Searcher

Man is flawed not because God made him but because man chooses to be flawed...

It's because I think we should not make anything up. And because I think it is worse that we believe in anything that someone else has made up. Humans created God in their imaginations because they were afraid of the unknown and afraid of death. Also, we can do good without god.
Just don't make anything up.

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
I suppose an actual manifestation might do it, in the same way that meeting a kelpie would convince me that they existed as well. It would have to be something unambiguous, though, because otherwise, even if there was some demonstration of immense otherworldly power, how would one would which suggested deity (if any) was responsible?

No, I'm not waiting. Why would I be? I assume that you don't believe in Zeus, so are you waiting for him to turn up as well? Your beliefs don't bother me, and your particular choice of deity has no interest for me. I know some people think their beliefs should be important for other people who don't share them, but I'm afraid it's just not true.
 Quoting: Wurzel

Truth be told I feel sad for you, not because you don't believe in God but because you are willing to say anything to buttress your beliefs against God...

All reading this thread should note that at no time did I ever resort to quoting the bible in anything I have said

I didn't feel the need to...
 Quoting: Masiro®

There's really no need to feel sad for me; I'm perfectly happy, and I get to explore the world without blinkers on. It's you that I feel sad for, because you're so closed off to all the possibilities.

You've also completely missed my point, which is that I don't have any belief against God, any more than you have beliefs against the Corrymadgeon. Your ideas of God, whether you're a Biblical literalist or whatever, are just not relevant to me. In short, I'm not constrained by that hypothesis.

Assuming that I'm lying is just rude. And wrong. I'm simply answering your question as honestly as I can.
 Quoting: Wurzel

I don't have blinders on either, I started this thread to encourage discussion, you my friend find it discouraging because the mere thought of God questions your beliefs in the universe and your place in it.

 Quoting: Masiro®

Like some alluded to, you dont even know if you are really a human or real. You simply cannot prove it. Electrical impulse is the gate between your perception of reality and your perception of yourself.

Until you can define yourself, God, the stars, etal are a moot point.

So you attributed a simple occurrence of this reality into the divine. You see what you want to see.

What about those that are righteous and just, without believing in a supreme deity? What about those that treat others with kindness and respect, simply because those acts make this reality better for everyone?

What if one walks the path of nobility and honor but believes knowledge of what comes next isn't allowed. That if that knowledge were known, it would ruin this reality.

What if you could see the light in their eyes and their love of life? Would you lock arms with such an individual and call them brother?

 Quoting: Masiro®

There is a simple path to this reality. It is embedded into the soul. It is always a personal choice whether to follow the path or not.

Why would you think otherwise?

I kind of feel sad for you to think we are animals without external influence guiding us heathens.

That is one of my main problems with the religious.

Most religious don't really care if you behave with nobility and honor, but that you believe in what they do.

In fact, there is a lot of anger from the religious in the belief a heathen like me could attain the spiritual world simply by being honest and just.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71594995

Tell the truth: how many of us would kill without God in our lives to tell us it is wrong?

The thing that I hate about atheism is the belief that without God in our lives we will be the same as if he is in our lives when history is proof that we won't...
 Quoting: Masiro®

I kill exactly as many people as I want. I don’t need to worry about displeasing a sky god to not kill.

If you think you would just start killing people on a whim, if God didn’t exist, says a lot more about you then it does any non-believers

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed

But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

O God, I pray to you this prayer, please excuse the fact that it is so public, but I pray that you show yourself to each and every person in this thread and in the world.

That the knowledge of you will be made manifest and that the peace in you I feel be made known to all.

I don't know how to answer all their questions, I wish I did. I wish we had all the answers but I know you are sovereign. I know you are the truth.

I pray God to give us strength and healing and knowledge. I pray for wisdom and knowledge to be given. I pray for grace and lovingkindness.

I pray for the ones that hate you and scorn you, that you would be a beacon in their life in times of trouble.

I pray for all of us Lord, in Jesus Holy name I pray these things.
A coward dies a thousand times, but the valiant need taste of death but once.

Fear cuts deeper than swords.

 Quoting: Masiro®

Yes, it is. Especially when the free will of evil people allows them to torture and brutalize innocent children who cry out for "God" to save them, but he doesn't. And why doesn't he? Because he gave the bad guy free will?

If you can live with that type of logic, it's a shame, but you have the free will to do such mental gymnastics.

No one EVER intervenes because there is no one there to intervene.

Like the one guy said in the book "Why Doesn't God Heal Amputees?" - "God" only does the possible, but never does the impossible.

Amazing how that works, isn't it?

Pray to god that you won't get a flat tire as you drive cross country and "He" can deliver on that prayer.

Pray for him to release you from the clutches of a serial killer, and he just can't seem to pull it off.

I almost wonder if the term agnostic has been butchered over the years to simply resemble that of the atheists.

I had always thought that an agnostic believed in the soul and something that survives after this mortal coil is exhausted but that knowledge of what comes after can not be know. This reality was specifically designed that way.

The unknown. The spiritual amnesia. The freedom.

I find those who are most miserable in this reality are able as far from those thoughts as possible, including the majority of the religious.

They have built mental prisons that are taller than any building and more confining than tight underwear.

For those who love this reality, you can see a light in their eyes. A patience. A persistence. An understanding and usually love, compassion and honor towards any who prove worthy. For those that don't prove worthy, not anger or hatred but simple distance 'Smile and Nod' 'It is what it is'.

It must take a huge toll to create so much anger and resentment. Like carrying a cross around on your back all day long....oh, wait a second.

Simply put, but a very convincing theory for those who may be split. Pascal's wager, google it
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77179859

Pascal’s Wager is a horrible argument for believing in God.

Actually it doesn’t even require belief, it just means someone should go through the motions of a believer, just in case there is a god. Because it minimizes the risk.

So basically I should live a lie, just in the off chance god is up there, even though I really don’t think he is. Ridiculous.

Exactly.

It's ridiculous to claim that religion gives us morality when morality exists in places where religion is unknown, or where Christianity is unknown. I reject religion *and* evil, (which might even be redundant.)

We know right from wrong inherently. Most people are just so fucked up by the time they reach adulthood that they're out of touch with themselves. Maybe some can get rehabilitated by beliefs that involve reward and punishment, but that doesn't mean such beliefs are required for one to be decent, compassionate, and ethical.

I was born and raised roman catholic. You have no idea of which you speak.

I was one of the biggest believers there was, up until the age of 20 when critical thought took over.

I would wager many are like me, that emerged from the belly of the beast. I was even an alter boy for 4 years.

You know what? I am more moral and compassionate now that before. I actually try to speak truthfully and do not cheat or steal. Something that religion did not teach me, especially through watching how 90% of the congregation acted in real life. They simply go through the motions, go to confession once in a while and start all over. But you know what, they are saved simply by the act of confession, not how they act in this reality.

Agreed! Very well stated...

I’m sure that spoke for a lot of us.

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
I can feel the hate for me even before I start down this road BUT...

I see the hand of God in everything around me and it is glorious...

So if you don't believe in God what more than anything is your reason for what you believe?

Op

You have to understand one thing most dont believe, because of their EGO

That's right EGO

They can fathom that their is something above them a higher power

Now, some will say how can I believe in something that doesn't exist?

Stupid question, how do they know God doesknt exist?

Then they will say we wheres the proof God exist?

Well, you are here aren't you?

Then they will say big bang, or we came from the ocean, we evolved from tadpoles or germs, or microcosms, or some stupid shit like these things

What they fail to understand is a big bang which actually would be impossible without something in space existing first wouldnt make sense, and for it to align planets perfectly for earth to have life isnt possible

Also, if they cant believe God could have existed from nothing then how could the big bang come.from nothing?

Then if we evolved from the ocean or microcosm then where did that come from?

Something created all these things

So, if something created all these things why cant it be a God? Why cant people just believe?

It cost nothing to believe

Think of life like this, this is to the non believers

If you believe in God and jesus and you die and they dont exist, so what?

You didn't lose anything

But if you dont believe and you die and they do exist now you risk losing everything if believing is the way to heaven and non believers go to hell

So what does it hurt to just believe? Nothing

It's all about their EGO

Some may not choose to believe because they like to sin and do things against Gods laws

So. By not believing they can do whatever and not feel they will have consequences after death

If they believe in God then they feel like they ate held accountable for their sins

Some people are just brain washed by People serving Satan

The greatest trick Satan ever did was making people believe he doesnt exist and God doesnt exist

Re: Simple Question: if you do not believe in God, why don't you?
