Life allows the conditions of creation and destruction to be satisfied, allowing the Universe as we know it. Ironically.

Our birth gives life to an eternal dimension.

Next, imagine this. Being raised by a mother and your father has abandoned you, meaning absent father or deadbeat dad.
You never see him or hear from him. Now fast forward into your 40s or 50s. Still no father in your life, but one day someone hands you a book and says it was written by a bunch of men that you don't know, and if you don't love this dad of yours unequivocally, when you die someday he is going to have you tortured for eternity. Does that make ANY logical sense whatsoever? Yeah... didn't think so.

And if divine miracles do occur, I've never witnessed one.

For non-believers, this is our only chance at existence. The only logical thing is for us to get as much out of this life as possible.

I don’t need a god to want to live as long as I can. I don’t need an external purpose to make my life meaningful.

There is no question that there is a creator but the real question is, what is the nature of the creator ? Invisible sky god with human characteristics with human weaknesses or an alien species millions of years more advanced than us. There is more evidence for the alien theory than an ancient sky god as nobody has ever seen an angel or demon but millions witness alien events yearly.

It's good to have this discussion. I can only relate what has happened to me personally in this.

I'll try to nut shell it, even though it's long, and maybe it will benefit someone here. That's my hope anyway.

I grew up in the standard mainstream protestant churches with sermonettes for Christianettes and not ever really seeing much of the power and glory in the people professing faith. Also a great deal of hypocrisy and hatred for people who were not in the same line of thinking as the practitioners of the particular denomination they were following.

Did the whole confirmation thing, and didn't join the church because I was 12 years old and knew what they believed, but not what "I" believed. Had to have a sit down with the pastor and the entire church board to explain myself to all these older adults who were pretty upset with me not joining the church.

Especially my parents.

But I stuck with my decision, and told them I couldn't take a vow that I believed and followed their doctrine when I really didn't know what I believed.

Then in high school I did a comparative religions course (self designed course) and discovered all religions basically said the same thing, "Be decent to each other". Also found out the origins of Christmas and Easter and it made me think that Christianity was really lame because they couldn't even come up with their own holidays.

It really rather hacked me off, and then I tried to be an atheist. That lasted about 6 months. I had to give that up because to me, every blade of grass just destroys the idea that there is no Creator. Atheism takes entirely too much faith for me.

I decided to basically cherry pick what seemed to be right to me from any religion at all. In college and after college, as I very much enjoy studying different social paradigms.

Looking at societies all across the world, every single society has some religion. Every single one.

That told me that there is definitely something because otherwise there is no reason at all to be decent to each other. None.

Then I nearly committed suicide and a voice, very calmly, spoke in my head, but audibly, and said, "You're not ready to die."

And those were the truest words I'd heard up to that point in my life. So I got help and, obviously, lived.

Another year or two went by doing the cherry picking thing, and then something hit me.

There has to be judgement. If there is any reason to be decent, there has GOT to be some kind of judgement.

And Yeshua (Jesus) is the only one who said, "I am the Way the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father but by me."

If there is judgement, then there is a Judge.

Since I can't even pass my own imperfect judgement, how could I possibly pass judgement under a perfect and righteous judge?

I couldn't...Nope. But Yeshua made the Way for me to be free.

So I went from not believing, to believing, and now it seems crazy to me that I ever even considered that there was no Creator.

Sadly, I think there are too many church goers and not enough people who attend church that are filled with love for Yah and their fellow man.

And I think that causes a lot of people to reject the most incredible blessing there is in this life. IE. The certainty that there is reason, and love, and hope and right ruling and joy...Despite all appearances to the contrary.

It's not a question of believing,it's what one does to know,to experience such a thing as the ineffable. It's beyond words when a human has an encounter with the source of all.

I've watched this same thread subject for the past 20 years with every conceivable angle offered by posters who are at all different stages of consciousness.

History is full of stories of saints, mystics and holy people from all faiths who have offered their experiences on the quest for transcendence and at-one-ment with the source of all. Whether it is through the cessation of thought by austerities and meditation or the one pointed determination to experience divine love by becoming loving in thought, word and deed or any of the myriad ways of attaining a higher understanding of our true self and its place in the scheme of things. Until one strives to know by whatever means and focuses wholeheartedly on the journey back home the best one can hope for is an intellectual acceptance or denial of the question of God.

The final answer can only be found in the crucible of your own being as it burns off its lower aspects and cleans itself up to be worthy to know such things.

I recall several seers and sayers of olde that said and saw the same thing, although the 'worthy' part can be a hangup for some.
