“There are no noise-cancelling headphones to stop the U.S. Navy’s 235-decibel pressure waves of unbearable pinging and metallic shrieking. At 200 Db, the vibrations can rupture your lungs, and above 210 Db, the lethal noise can bore straight through your brain until it hemorrhages that delicate tissue. If you’re not deaf after this devastating sonar blast, you’re dead. This is the real life of marine mammals destroyed by the U.S. Navy’s all-out acoustic war on the world’s oceans. The collateral damage of this high intensity military sonar is shocking. But because all these millions of dying whales or dolphins are too often out of human sight, they’re also out of mind”

Fuckushima is an ELE. A slow motion ELE, but an ELE nonetheless.

I commute to LA from NORCAL (Southwest ftw!) anyway, anecdotally, about half the people I workwith have spouses or family with cancer...

Within 10 years, 50% of California will have cancer, buh by beaners!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76564156

Yes, it is, and it won't be the only one. Before long at least one more and perhaps several more reactors will fall into a similar situation. We had no business being so blasted greedy for power that we had to use nuclear power. The price is higher than anyone could have dreamed.

I'm shocked at your fifty per cent figure with cancer - to exactly what do you attribute this for people living in CA?

Shortly after the earthquake and tsunami, a friend and I went to the beach almost every evening. We were not told until a few months later about the Cesium that was released. Seattle was not warned either. We had no idea we were endangering ourselves. We were looking mainly for floats - the things used for crab pots, if you have watched commercial crabbing on a television program, that kind of thing. They have many uses, and people, including myself, like to collect them. Great fun to watch one coming in on the tide and try to get it before someone else does. A lovely evening of excersize, pleasure, and cancer we didn't see coming.

That's amazing! What do they say about Fukushima? It didn't happen? Was not a big issue? How do they put Fukushima to bed in their heads?
 Quoting: Pooka

They are told that "dilution is the solution" .
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76564156

That makes me sick. Literally, stomach bounced. Short-sighted, stupid, thoughtless -

So they also do not understand that radiation is still pouring into the ocean? That it will continue until cores and all are found and removed? That there is no dilution happening - concentration further is what's happening.

That statement, "Dilution is the solution", waves away the lives of every sea creature lost to date and being lost today, as though they don't matter. The whales don't matter. Nothing matters but that they maintain the party line.

Of all the stupidity I expect to see on a regular basis on GLP, I never dreamed I would see something as crassly stupid as "Dilution is the solution" for Fukishima.

Thank you for sharing this, AC4156. You've opened my eyes and perhaps others to just how far-fetched liberals are willing to be.
 Quoting: Pooka

The level of willfull ignorance and groupthink is utterly appalling. FWIW, I am not larping, my sis and her husband bought the leftist LIE, they have NO children (they are the type of people that SHOULD have had kids). It's just shocking to me that so few in acadamia will question the status quo.

The acidic ocean is the battery that runs the world.
The more electricity the world uses the faster we die.

Its just a big energizer bunny but somewhere the connection is getting bad. When a battery is dead the acid is still there along with the mass.

The properties of a battery that is being over used is over heating then its core will melt.

The sun might feed the charge but all the other components of the earth have to work also.

So many countries offered to help, including our own. Japanese pride is greater than other cultures understand. They could not "lose face" by accepting help. It was better to do the best they could, even if it proved wholly inadequate, than to admit they could not manage it themselves.

We can truthfully say, pride killed the Pacific Ocean.

Now the disaster has grown to proportions nobody can cure. The only help now is to stop the leakage currently going on, find the other cores, and put an end to it. The world governments should be together on this and force the solution on the Japanese for the good of the world as a whole. Why this does not take place, I cannot fathom.

Fukushima is undoubtedly a factor but there are other factors as well.

Pollution, ocean heating, geoengineering and nanoparticulates in the ocean, loss of salmon, as previously underscored, is massive and indicative of marine ecosystem collapse.

If you recall, several years ago, 10,000 walruses piled atop each other and committed suicide when they were unable to find ice.

Photos were not released and the story disappeared into a Black Hole!
 Quoting: EBEN

I did not know about the walruses, Eben - that's incredibly sad and difficult to take in. Can you recall any possible reason?
 Quoting: Pooka

As they hunt for food and swim at sea they were unable to find ice for them to rest on.

The world ended for them that day and it was hushed up quickly!!!!!
 Quoting: EBEN

I'm so very sorry! Where did this take place? Those poor, poor things with no rest - my dear God - ten thousand at once?

I'm surprised the people beating us over the head with climate warming didn't publicize the photos and story to gain more traction for themselves.
 Quoting: Pooka

This type of incident has apparently happened a few times - both attributable to polar bears frightening walrus herds.
Nothing to do with walruses finding themselves without ice due to changing climate.
The most recent occurrence is said to have taken place September-October of 2017,
with scientists again claiming that polar bears had been sighted frightening walruses over cliffs.

WWF employees stationed at the village of Ryrkaipiy in Chukotka notified the Netflix "Our Planet" film crew about the incident.
The film crew caught the tail end of the chaos without crediting the bears for the carnage.
Further, footage indicates that drones were used to capture scenes which may in turn scared even more walruses to their doom.

Surge in whale deaths puzzles scientists

More than 70 whales have been found dead along the West Coast and scientists don't know why, but initial findings suggest that the gray whales are dying from starvation.

Those scientists are puzzled? Hell the Japanese nuclear reactor melted down due to it being hit with a tidal wave after the earth quake that struck off shore in year 2011. Which dumped huge amounts of radiation in to the pacific ocean due to the nuclear reactor core totally melted in to the ground.

Those scientists know damn well what is happening in the pacific ocean. We have the lying fake stream media that will never talk about how much radioactive pollutants dumped in to the pacific due to that reactor melt down.

"More than 70 whales have been found dead since January, the most in a year since 2000."

Not Fukishima-related.

Fluctuations in our geo-magnetosphere. Some species are more sensitive than others.

Animal die-offs are a sign. I think for whales and dolphins they become disoriented and confused, beaching themselves, sometimes in numbers...and this confuses the scientists.

Starfish dying in record numbers, birds falling dead from the sky, bee colonies near extinct.

Signs..

Many more reactors are foing ro fail and leak toxic radiqrion into the environment. They're all on water supplies, so ita just a matter od time.

Fukushima will be the death od the planet. Its not just the animals that are dying, its the sea plants, ie plankton that are going to die off too. Plankton produces most of the oxygen on earth. Nobody ever seems to realize this. Everything will die if the oceans die.
