OP

Do you have recommendations for a medicinal plant/herb/tree/shrub garden?

I’d like to have at least 10 different plants.

I thought about it and it is pretty hard to 'profile' a medicinal garden for someone. Always have a few comfrey plants around for sure (they can deal with semi-shade easily). I like lemon balm myself as a sun-tea....the rest is more person specific then 'in general' for sure plant a bay tree though! 'Let food be your medicine' is always a good idea. I'll think a bit longer...it is Thanksgiving Day here and I'm going to eat the 'uber-Traditional' pho...

It seems (like in the next year or two) that the West might be having even more issue then we do now. As the world gets more divisive the plant workers around the edges of it can become even more informed via one another.

I don't buy the Gaia/hippy stuff myself but I do understand plant medicines. Anyone reading this thread should pay attention to this fellows herbal medicine interviews and books, he is brilliant.

It was only through the thread I do not mention anymore , when I became a Born Again Christian, where I realized that my associations with neo-paganism was wrong. But then I realized that the tech works. Herbs do heal. Food heals. So scrap the persons personal delusions about 'Mother Earth' and just save all of this fellows interviews.

Re: Dandelions and Civilization (short vid)UPDATED pg 11 Dandelion and Spike Proteins
I'm probably going to switch to more media. People can DL (and save it as Q would say STORE OFFLINE), it makes it easier because the people who are speaking realize they are talking to the general public (myself included even though I do have some level of detail). So That is my next task is to find more (since I know some of these people) media. The rains seem to have set in here and I have time.

Plus people who don't get 'rain' as a season get winter and they have more time. I can drift off into obscure herbology but I don't think I will do that. I will try and offer the best of what Western Euro's and North Americans can do simply.

I may repeat myself, normally because I found a better thing. I'm going to add to the above lecture on Lyme and say that one of my Naturopath buddies used pretty much the same protocol for STD's...and had good success...just saying...maybe they are linked I lost my access to the UBC Library because my passwords now belong to Prof's accounts.

So, we can prolly make the easiest access herbal/Permie threads on the planet really. And why not. But again, I'll bring up the unmentionable thread and say STORE OFFLINE.

If you are really into Permaculture I'd say this library and skill set is the best place to go in North America
[link to permies.org]

This would be the place to go for specific advice, for specific Garden Zones etc. Hence I had a hard time picking plants for someones specific garden. What I can do (with backup) is find the best data on a plant that grows near you. In the interview above they are talking about Japaenese knotweed which grows in clumps here and everyone wants to get rid of it because it is an 'invasive species' which is a fricking myth.

I guess I'm rambling to combat the Democrat debate I watched through which is still stuck in my head as stupid.

Re: Dandelions and Civilization (short vid)UPDATED pg 11 Dandelion and Spike Proteins
I'm not sure if there is much of a point carrying on this thread. But I will add this because when my son was 4 and I lived remote, he cut his finger to the bone. Stabbing paintballs on the porch for no apparent reason. With family who keep their knives sharp.

So we had no phone, he was screaming, and a grabbed some H2O2, doused his finger and said 'look son, can see your bone'....probably a bad thing to say but I don't really falter so whatever, he's 18+ and remembers it with a giggle...

I took his finger, wrapped in a elastic band that came of a cauliflower bunch from the store (the blue, thick ones) and that cut off the blood flow to his finger for a bit so I applied this [link to www.medicinehunter.com] Of which I had a lot. Well, then next day after I had slowly unwrapped his elastic band his wound was visible but not bleeding.

15 years later...it is not even visible at all. I was going to write on another thing (since most of us can not grow that plant), kudzu and related plants but there is a very small echo chamber here so what is the point?

I’m enjoying your posts to glean any knowledge I don’t have. There are probably more lurkers than you would think. Yarrow, bee balm (monarda fistulosa) and plantain are a few that grow readily in my area that I wouldn’t be without.

So I just came across this amazing thread and its already at 11 pages!

Sweet potatoes make wonderful indoor plants. If you have a sweet potato tuber, leave it on the kitchen window ledge/sill(does need some sun) and over time, it will sprout, when it does sprout you can train it around the window frame and when you are bored with it, plant it.

Comfrey:

This is also know as poor mans fish and chips. When the leaves are small and young, lightly batter them and fry them.
