Fuckung fool... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77698736 If Chile were so great and such a cheap place to live, all those Central Americans would be heading that way instead of for the US. Um Chile is in South America last i checked... Americans and geography never fails to amaze |

No free stuff there, you have to work or have savings. When you are afraid of losing your life, you have already lost your life. Don't be afraid. |

There is, however, something wrong with your reading comprehension. I NEVER SAID that Chile was in Central America. I said that if Chile was such a great place, the Central American refugees/immigrants would head towards Chile rather than the US. |

Red Hot Chilean Pepe User ID: 77723646 Chile 06/12/2019 07:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Nope, a big NO is the answer to that, guns are heavily restricted, you can have guns but only at home, carrying them is ilegal (unless you are a law enforcer), and using them in self defense will probably end you in prison. There’s and idiotic legal criteria that if you kill someone, even a burglar inside your home, the only way you get free is if you killed the guy after being shot at by him, but if the guy is barefist or with only a knife or blunt object to threat you, if you kill him, you will be convicted for “disproportionate use of force” in self defense. Chilean laws suck in many ways but specially when protecting victims rights. All great truths begin as Blasphemies. G.B.S. GLP is like a diamond mine of information, in the sense that you have to shovel mountains of crap to find the diamonds, but it's still worth the pain. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77646063 United States 06/12/2019 08:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hold on there, for $3000 in Georgia I pay my house payment (10 year old 3600 sq ft) and have a new Toyota truck. I wake up to a mountain view every day, have a lake for my kayak, and I'm surrounded by people who speak English. I have medical care close and a large city if I want to take in shows or shop. $3,000 can buy a lot even in much of the US - you just need to know where to look. Quoting: GA Girl Oh cmon now.. you are gonna destroy the dream. The US sucks balls dontcha know and everything is bad. I do the same, with less.. in Florida. And I get to keep my guns as well. Good for them.. but its not like they have reached some utopian shangri la. Prob the TDS that drove them out.. and I am OK with that. They can stay there. |

You can pay $50 per month and get a top class private healthcare plan as an expat. Also, not sure why people in North America have some skewed idea of Chile as a lower class country. It leads Latin America in nearly every economic category and it's homicide rate is just behind Canada for best in the Americas. Lots of beautiful nature, friendly people and a much better lifestyle than living in some overpopulated cities. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77374864 United States 08/22/2019 10:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't doubt that parts of Chile would be a great place to live ... but at $3000/mo? If one wants economical retirement there are a number of places in the ol US of A where one can EASILY match that cost as long as you are out of the city (as they are in Chile). Also ... don't forget the airfare costs to go back and forth when relatives get sick and die in the US and other trips back and forth that are virtually required. Sure, you may be able to NOT go back and forth for a year or two and then WHAM, you have to make 3 trips in the space of a year FOR EVERYBODY. Now if the cost in Chile was $1500/mo, well that would be a different animal, but it's not. I image for $3000/mo you could also do lots of beautiful places in Portugal or in Greece too fwiw, and be in a SAFE place with 1st world health care. |
