Re: BREAKING: One case of Ebola confirmed in Uganda, says WHO
Or 6 months later... ebola has been found to survive in sperm for that long with speculations it could be longer.
 Quoting: DEPLORABLE windowlicker

Incorrect. It has been found to last a year in sperm, and a considerable period in vaginal fluids.
 Quoting: Pooka

"Studies have shown that Ebola virus can be isolated from semen up to 82 days after symptom onset (Democratic Republic of Congo, 1995) and recent virus persistence studies identified genetic material (RNA) from the virus by nucleic acid amplification tests (such as RT-PCR) 406 days (13.5 months) after symptom onset. This is well beyond the period of virus detectability in the blood of survivors and long after recovery from illness. The detection of virus genetic material many months after symptom onset is assumed to reflect the continuing, or at least very recent, presence of live and potentially transmissible Ebola virus. Ebola virus RNA has also been detected by RT-PCR in vaginal fluid from one woman 33 days after symptom onset (Democratic Republic of Congo, 1995). Live virus has never been isolated from vaginal fluids. With such limited data, it is not known for how long virus typically persists in vaginal fluids, or whether it can be sexually transmitted from females to males. More surveillance data and research are needed on the risks of sexual transmission, and particularly on the prevalence of viable and transmissible virus in semen over time."

Sorry - that's older news. Please find newer resources. Many have stated the year for semen ebola content. Sorry I don't have time right now to find the sources for you.
 Quoting: Pooka

By the way - men have now gotten ebola from sexual intercourse with women who have the virus in their vaginal fluids.

Re: BREAKING: One case of Ebola confirmed in Uganda, says WHO
There are major cities in the US that are training for a Ebola outbreak.
I think the government knows more then they are telling us.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75980244

You "think"? Governments do everything possible to suppress any news that would cause the populace to panic. Believe wholeheartedly that we are not being warned and it is here. There will be no warning until the time of or close to time of martial law, causing everyone to remain in place.

Are you prepared to shelter in place for at least some weeks, if not some months? If not, why not?
 Quoting: Pooka

This week concluded my doc appts for a few months.
Next is finding a grocery store that is low risk.
Gloves and mask in car. Mindful of my hands.
 Quoting: MissCleo

Always mindful. S.A. The other day I went to my favorite discount grocery and picked up a number of things, most "for future reference". Upon leaving the store, stowing the items, and returning to the driver's seat, my hands felt SO DIRTY!!!! Unbelievably so. The cart handle had no different appearance or "feel" than usual, but the way my hands felt was utterly disgusting. Immediately I grabbed the disinfectant wipes and took care of my hands, then the keys, steering wheel, and the part of the door I use to close it. Much better. Don't know what I ran into, but it was apparently a warning to GET RID OF IT FAST.

I carry antibacterial wipes in my car, always. I recommend it for everyone. Sure they might be slightly harsher than hand sanitizer, but they do a much better job, and also can be used to clean whatever you touched before you cleaned your hands!

I personally know people who go grocery shopping and return home and prepare food for their children and themselves. Not one washed hand in the place. Not understandable, even when we are not dealing with typhoid, measles, ebola. Not understandable at all.

I expect to be wearing gloves next time I visit that store. Let people think I have some gross skin disease on my hands LOL I don't mind. Better that than the actual gross disease I might bring home.

Starting to be time to disinfect what we bring home, as well. Wiping with a bleach-sprayed cloth, spraying with bleach solution, whatever is appropriate for a particular item, because soiled hands handle the packages. Bleach preparations need to be left for three minutes to do their magic, before being wiped away.

Re: BREAKING: One case of Ebola confirmed in Uganda, says WHO
Keep in mind the survival rate for Ebola is currently much higher than it would be if it went out of control and overloaded the medical system. The primary reason why a decent amount of people survive Ebola is because they are able to get IV fluids. Patients will throw up any water that they drink normally, so IV fluids are a lifesaver. If Ebola were to truly explode, IV fluids would no longer be available to most people, and 90%+ fatality rates would occur.

If Ebola was really spreading out of control, the people in the best positions would be those who are able to completely seclude themselves for many months, or those who get infected first. The ones who get infected first would be able to get medical treatment before the medical infrastructure completely falls apart. Their survival rates would be much higher.
 Quoting: WalrusRider

this is why i think there will be 3 waves when the disease gets here to the US. 1 is the wave you speak of where ppl can and are treated. the hospitals will hide the truth from their own staff toa void ppl not coming to the hoepistal all greed. durting this wave ppl can be treated.

the lack of honesty and informing the public, will lead to the outbreak spreading quickly. it will start with anyone the patient came into contact with before going to the hospital it will also double due to the hospitals covering it up.now the medical staff is infected and their families this means nurses, office ppl, orderlys, those who run tests, laundry, and the kitchen help. when their families get sick, do you think they will stick around to treat the 2nd wave?

as the second wave hits, the government will not b able to stop the news from getting out they will try to save face and say it is isolated to NYC,ATLANTA, or some other large city. before it is reported, it will already be wide spread. wave 2 will lead to the government trying to tell us to stay home and avoid crowds.with the internet and rate of information, those nurses who were lied to before will be warning us.the government will go from CYA to acting like they have it under control and are in front of it.they may have no choice but to impose ML at least in some large cities.

many ppl, even welfare ppl, have enough groceries to survive a couple weeks the boredom might get them thou. if the cell towers still work ppl will remain fairly calm during the 2nd wave. what happens to bored ppl once u let the loose? they will all need to shop for food and to go see if their buddies are o'k.now everyone has the disease. too many at once for a fully staffed medical system to handle.by now the hospital staff will be down to 75% max.in some places i doubt if will they be at half stafflet alone how bad off they will be with supplies.

phase 3 will wipe out 90% of the population of our country and possably the globe.full isolation and quaranteening anyone for 1 month minimum will b your only way to b sure you are safe. will countries do that? will they stoop all incoming traffic? will they force their own ppl to stay home that long?will tyey inform the public of the risks with sexual transmission?

NOTE the 1st wave can jump into the 2nd fast. the 2nd might blow into the 3rd without even being noticed. these waves can happen in weeks. we very possably are in the 1st wave NOW. there are rumors of outbreaks killing US citizens we are "TOLD" the ppl died elsewhere.

the only way you know you are in wave 2 is the media will report something it will be downplayed as always. it will be like no big deal.just a hiccup news report.notice they are reporting the measle #'2 all the time? that is prep so when something big happens you ignore it.that way you think" oh so what, this is there not here.nothing to get excited about". that is the prep the gov does for phase 2.

you willl know we are in wave 3 by the dead bodies. if you are still alive,it will b too late to b worried. wave 3 means the power went out,the water stopped running, internet and cell phones quit working, trucks are not moving goods.the gov is no longer in control or in charge this is the 1 ray of sunshine.since the gov is not in charge they can not dictate rules nor take taxes. anyone left alive will be completely free.

if you like we can study this further?

i do bnot think an exodous out of cities will happen with these waves. ppl who live there will stay thinking they need to be near the hospitals just in case. by the time the power is off, they won't have the gas to go far. ppl in panic do stupid things. if they leave city A ,where would they go? city B. that is all by major interstate not rural roads.

the middle class or the working class will survive wave 1 and 2 better than the poor or upper class. remember those nurses who took the disease home they dropped it off at the daycare center.they will give it to the upper restaraunt workers, dry cleaners, upper end stores, etc. the poor who got sick while in the waiting room took it home also. they infected their neighbors and buddies on the wkend at the bar-b-q or party.

when the gov shuts down to a ML or local quarantene, the working class will have problems.they will be upset they can't pay their bills with no income.however the majority will be alive.how long can they survive without food, water, and power thou?

food for thought: once the giant economic wheel stops ,how do you restart it?? how long will it take?

this 1 is fun. everything is designed around deliver it now and process it. immediate delivery and supply is not realistic. once the shipments stop, how much will it take to get the system running? it is a giant wheel and i do think will take a lot longer to restart,or attempt to, than ppl think.

give you an example bread needs wheat to flour and milk. cows not being milked for days is a problem how is that milk kept cold? where is the gas to run the ilk truck? how screwed up is the milk plant? those pipes can't be kept clean without water and pumps. inspection? so much goes into making a loaf of bread that is done super fast now. realistically it might take a month just to make that same loaf after TSHTF.

to sell food a grocery store has how many regulations and inspections? coolers with rotted meat will nead replaced BEFORE THEY EVEN OPEN THE STORE to sell corn puffs let alone meat.

Likely won't be Ebola, unless it was lab created to transmit easily via more respiratory symptoms causing coughing and sneezing, thus helping easily spread the "created" virus. As it stands now, nature does not seem to be doing this.

It's a matter of when not if a global pandemic and likely global war will begin. The question is...will it occur naturally? Or will it be artificially aided/created by TPTB...

Nipah virus has been reported in India once again, Avian influenza is a constant threat along with any potential variant of swine or human flu. Other Hendra-viruses, and others are the biggest threats. Also, we habit virus X, yet to be discovered. Bats and primates carry numerous diseases we have not even discovered...

We are past due for a large natural outbreak, so my odds are saying the shit is coming one way or another.

All that you say is true, except I wasn't entirely clear on your position on escaping cities. If we are in agreement, you meant they need to leave now, because leaving after Ts hits TF isn't possible.

To restart our economy will be a huge effort requiring many people, and those people need to shelter in place until the whatever-it-is has completely gone. Meanwhile, they need to have already in their homes everything they need to last weeks into months. I'm going to ballpark it as three months. YMMV

You are unaware of ebola in Sweden, the UK, the US.

"Calm down" is exactly what will get you killed. Please think about it for your own sake, and that of your family. You are unaware of most of what is going on. Perhaps you believe the government? If so, this is probably not the thread for you. They do anything possible to avoid panic in the population.

POOKA i figure smart ppl will have evac'ed before that. i expect they will evac during wave 1 at the latest. when i said there will be no mass exodous,i was referring to the liberals and un-informed.many times, we heare ppl worry or discuss the city ppl invading the rural areas and fire fights. i do not see that taking place.

i have thought on this off and on. the more i do the more i think the city ppl won't venture off the highways leading between major cities at the worst case of any DOOM event.

those ppl will panic panicked ppl do not think clear. they will fall into old habits. follow each other off a cliff like zombies or sheep.like a deer stuck in your headlights he knows he is in trouble but can not move.

the last few months, every discussion thread about what will happen gets ppl arguing or just gets dropped off. i wish we could keep an open discussion thread on how the events will play out after a SHTF moment.

by the way did we ever get ppl on the ground to report from VENEZUALA? there is so much we could learn.

Incorrect. It has been found to last a year in sperm, and a considerable period in vaginal fluids.

Ebola virus RNA has also been detected by RT-PCR in vaginal fluid from one woman 33 days after symptom onset (Democratic Republic of Congo, 1995).
