When they built the wall, to cut costs, they threw slaves and political prisoners in the wall to be buried alive to save material costs. After they decayed, the walls crumbled and are in dilapidated state. The wall is a monument to genocide.

I was fortunate enough to escape arrest but some people I know were tortured and have physical and emotional scars, including permanently maimed like missing fingers.
