In 2017 Smoking is not allowed in most public places, most people do not smoke, and cancer caused 21.7% of all deaths. In 1979 you could buy a small pickup that got 27 mpg. In 2019 you can buy a small pickup that gets 23 mpg. Seriously, you can't make this shit up! In 1979 the Ford courier and Mazda B2000 both were rated at 27 mpg. The best available today are the Chevy and GMC diesels. The best fuel injected gas 4 cylinder truck for mpg today is the GM/Chevy with the 2.5 that gets 22 mpg. So a 1979 carbureted 4 cylinder truck with no computers gets better fuel economy than the equivilant modern fuel injected computer controlled engineering marvel. 1979 was not perfect though, as anything with a larger engine with California emission controls lost around 2 mpg, dropping typical dodges from 16 to 14 mpg. This means 12+% increase in fuel consumed and carbon emitted for California style emission systems(3way catalyst). This does not take into consideration the loss in mpg from having the smog pump, one way catalytic converter and standard smog tune. Live here too of course I do:) You know it's presumptuous to think I wouldn't care considering the subject matter of video. Note how perfectly it compares the past to present using real footage to express the individual freedom they lost. Since you posted a comparison starting from 1979, naturally I had to add to your thread one of the biggest cultural turning points in the world that year... which in reality is a cyclical phenomenon throughout human history. Cultural degradation doesn't just apply to America. Slavery vs freedom... the human condition that only Jesus can ultimately save us from. In fact He already did, but it's up to each of us to see it ... and believe it. John 8:32 Surfs up John 8:32 |

Today I have a Subaru Outback with a killer sound system, and crystal clear digital music, with all my favorite songs from 1960 on. I also really like my Toyota Tacoma, but the sound system isn't near as good as the Subaru. I love the wonderful air conditioning, and all the gadgets. In 1979 I owned a video tape deck, which I recorded late night movies on, and watched later. Programming it was a fucking nightmare, and the video quality sucked. Also the movies in the 1970s really sucked. It was like the movie industry had died, and that's why I watched taped old movies. Today I rip videos onto my computer, and watch movies and comedy TV shows on my laptop while reclining comfortably in my bed. Plus I have a 55 inch 4K TV that I watch all my entertainment on, and also play video games on. Entertainment is a thousand times better today. In 1979 I had a record player, which really fucking sucked. I hated trying to clean records to get ride of the snaps and pops, which were distracting as hell. Records really ruined the listening experience, not to mention flipping records, etc. Today digital music is like being in heaven, no distractions, just listening pleasure. |

Female life expectancy for the first time dropped where it once was longer than the males. Even without wars killing our people for some Nation not ours far away from their homeland, our people were dying off at home. From young men, to those not reached 65 years old, to babies and children. I do not foresee us every going back to the better days, I see us all winding down on a trickle effect. The most precious things are the simple things in life, always present in the simplest of minds. |
