Lookner was on it last night at Agenda Free TV, I watched it til it was looking like the massive crowd of protesters was peacefully disbursing. Very tense situation there! Big standoff between the police and millions of people.

If they are back this morning and the situation has escalated, he'll probably pick it back up. I really like the way he handles news coverage.

They had no choice. The lease on Kowloon (the "mainland" part of Hong Kong) was up. And without that, Hong Kong Island was indefensible. China would have just attacked it with army and navy.

China made it very clear at the handover that this wasn't voluntary on Britain's part. A week or two before, Chinese troops had literally marched into Kowloon across the border from Shenzhen.

You want HK to "rebel" against China? If they'd ever done that successfully, they might be free. But they are not that sort of people, for one thing.
