Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77720952 I don't like it as much as the next guy, but it's not your colony anymore, Hong Kong is a part of China now, it is not your business. And don't tell me you care so much about the poor Hongkongers, because I'm not that naive. Say the same thing about Israel. Israel is the promised land of the Israelites, who are now returning there. Hong Kong is a part of China that was taken from it temporarily due to a drug war, returned when the lease was up. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 64199595 Canada 06/12/2019 10:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Everyone present at that rally just fucked up their social credit scores.... Anyways....China grew rapidly into capitalism or whatever you want to call it...they did it in a generation.....yet they didn't go through some of the growing pains a typical capitalist country goes through.....remember unions, and strikes and riots in the USA in the early part of the 20th century that led to some sort of worker reforms and a social compact between employee and employers....environmentL controls, etc etc....China never went through that.....apparently there are protests and crackdowns inland that happen all the time that never get reported.... Many view China as a centralized well oiled machine..but it isn't....it can easily be fractured and split into large factions that will cause problems for other countries that border it..... |

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I care about the Chikongers. ^^^ isnt that great? hey relax guys, the city theyre in belongs to xyz on paper so none of this matters? Right. It belongs to China. I didn't say it doesn't matter. It matters that the HK people are making a big mess over this. . oniongrass User ID: 77610284 United States 06/12/2019 10:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Brit had no choice because 99-year lease was up.China didn't want to renew the lease. China told the Brit that they would march to Hong Kong if the Brit didn't hand Hong Kong to China. Basically right, a coupole minor corrections. The lease was 150 years on Kowloon, 1847 - 1997. It was handed back on schedule. The Chinese troops actually did march into Kowloon a week or two ahead of the handover. The Island (and all the rest of the islands there, which are many, including Lantau where the airport now is) was surrendered back because it had been captured by the Brits rather than leased. But they were indefensible anyway. China had become a superior military force to Britain. . Yea, but thats different...that baby could have been an inconvenience. (On second thought...it is the same thing). |

Most young people don't remember that scene. Oh that. The poor tank driver from the provinces did his best to avoid that asshole, but he was ordered to get to Tiananmen Square. Did you know that some people were opening the hatches of those tanks and throwing in Molotov cocktails, killing the troops from the countryside who were just following orders? Tiananmen Square was stupid too. The place is the very center of the Chinese government, and they were allowed to camp there for months, embarrassing the government with their stupid "Statue of Liberty" thingie. The government pleaded with them to leave. How long would the USA allow the Mall in DC (which is not as central or important as Tiananmen Square) be occupied. See: "bonus march". Or even Waco -- we won't even allow an open field in Texas to be occupied. Not only do I remember it. I've been to speeches by two of the leaders of it, including Wang Dan who is a pussy and wouldn't take questions from people who might know something. Both he and the other one (a woman who wasn't as famous but also an organizer of it) are the usual leftist SJW crybully types. Last Edited by oniongrass on 06/12/2019 11:09 AM . If the riots go on, Mainland China will set that aside, and Hong Kong will never be the same. (The Credit Scoring system, used on the Mainland will be applied to Hong Kong, to keep them in line.) |

How do most residents and tourists react to that? If a huge picture of Adolph Hitler hung above the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, how would the world react? Hitler was a homosexual (rainbow-flag carriers, rejoice!), animal-rights-loving, Islam-admiring ultra-liberal. Not all that different from a Mao or Stalin. Not all that alien to plenty of progressives sipping cappuchinos and tapping away on their ipads in Starbucks throughout America. . |

Dem in WH, Dems can shit all over the streets of DC for as long as they want. Dem in WH, R demonstrators are cleared out after allotted time and arrested if they don't pick up the trash the lefties left behind. |
