Vitamin B12
My daughter was diagnosed with vitamin B12 deficiency. So was my father-in-law.

They live over 100 miles apart and have a very different diets.

Just a heads up - if you are feeling off - try B12 supplements.

Maybe it is not as prevalent as it once was.
pray to Jesus

Note - not in India, in the UK, English born and bred! lol
Not in Belgium either, I hoped a change of ISP to Plusnet would sort it out, seems not.

Re: Vitamin B12
Here in Colombia, you can walk into any pharmacy and ask for a B-12 shot. They’ll take you into the back and stick you. I’ve done it a few times when I’ve felt lethargic and it’s great - much better than downing a Red Bull. For the rest of the day you are flying high.

The issue is that B-12 really needs to be injected. In every study that I have read, oral B-12 never actually makes it into your system.

hormonal contraception causes vitamin B12 deficiency - It's allegedly not deficient, but actually bound to something so the reading from the test determines it as low.

Get some yeast extract like marmite for them and make it into a hot drink 1 teaspoon per 3/4 mug.

Don't take supplements.

So you're saying it's okay for someone to take pharmaceuticals, but they shouldn't take food supplements.

For me, I'm going to use food supplements to avoid pharmaceuticals.

But you're right, drugs can make vitamin and mineral deficiencies worse.

Mineral deficiencies probably cause half the problems that doctors prescribe drugs to treat.

But according to you, whatever you do, be sure and avoid any mineral supplements.

Unless you meant don't take vitamin B12 specifically.

Sorry it's the middle of the night and I don't mean to get on a sarcastic rant. Not really awake.

I have heard that cyano B12 is not as effective as Methyl B12.

Also, b12 needs something called intrinsic factor to be absorbed. They sell b12 with intrinsic factor on the internet.

Re: Vitamin B12
you can be born with amemia that skyrocket after 35/40.

if you eat a lot of folate as green leaf vegetable that will mask b12 deficiency for long time.

I do take sublingual methylated b12 bombs about 5000mgc daily just to survive...you need to place it under the tongue and leave it there for at least 30 min. If you swallow before, it's like you didnt take.

if I religiously wait 30 min I can skip now and then a day, differently I will have symptoms in few days without taking it.

Injections could be okay if you arent too anemic. If not you'll need injections so often that is a problem itself.

eating liver once, twice a week skipping the pill seems to work.

I didn't think fresh fruits and vegetables contained any vitamin B12. I thought you could only get it from animal sources. Supposedly your gut bacteria manufactures some, but we've probably all been hopelessly compromised by antibiotics and pesticides.

If you're saying "don't take b12 supplements" at the same time you're saying "get your b12 from fresh fruits and vegetables" then that really makes your "don't take supplements" look ignorant and discredited.

Yes you shouldn't take one b vitamin in isolation you should take them all at once.

That goes for all vitamins and supplements if you ask me, you should take all the vitamins in all their forms, and all the minerals, every day because they all work together and our soils and food supply are debilitated and compromised, also our lifestyle is stressful and unnatural and we need more nutrition instead of drugs.

Most of the Vitamin B supplements are synthesized using petroleum products. I get a rash when I take them.

The only B vitamin I take is B-12. It is one of the most common deficiencies even among meat eaters. It is not made from petroleum products.

It contains levels far lower than you might imagine. The only meats that contain significant levels are liver and oily fish like Mackerel.

B-12 is one of the most common deficiencies even among people who eat lots of meat.

Many years ago I had to get B12 shots because of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Those shots hurt like a BITCH and bruised my hips terribly. My hips were black, blue, and purple all the time back then....the B12 for shots has to be kept refrigerated, it took a larger bore needle and was very slow getting it into my hip. Very painful.

I met a naturopath at a supplements store, and she told me I could take NOW sublingual B12 10,000 mcg (methylcobalamin form), and get the same result. For that particular ailment she also suggested CoQ10.

Within two weeks I had all the energy I could've ever wanted AND it didn't make me eat all the time like the shots did.

Also, I did not take a multiple B vitamin supplement, too. It did what it was supposed to without it.

imo, yes

But there are concerns that they may also concentrate undesirable elements as well as the desired vitamins. ie they may contain some lead, arsenic, etc.

Regardless, I take Realfood organics mens daily with good results and have no negative reactions that I get from synthetic vitamins.

thumbs

Many people who are B-12 deficient and tired all the time notice immediate improvement on taking Methyl B-12.

Avoid the Cyano B-12, not only is it far less effective at raising B-12 levels, the "cyano" base is essentially cyanide. The cyanide level is very low, but it is a toxic substance that you can easily avoid by taking the far more effective Methyl form of B-12.

If you do not eat meat you need to take this supplement.

Prilosec type proton pump inhibitors can cause a B-12 deficiency and this can sometimes cause stroke like symptoms.
