Well, city kids are kind of soft but yeah, the ones out in rural areas, damn right! Lots of them growing up in a hunting/fishing/trapping home acquire skills at a pretty young age.

This dude is lucky the kid ran to the closet with the machete, and not the one with the shotgun.

No joke! A lot of rural, farm families have 'em handy to mainly handle fox, coyote, bear but yeah, it's the 2-legged critters that are most burdensome <sigh>.

Yeah, that describes quite a few folks living here in NC. Go even 20 miles outside of decent size city and you are in cow town. Where WallyWorld type people are abundant.

I'm snickering to myself, tossing ideas in my head on how to incorporate this news into a positive spin for all the realtors w/ rural listings.

This is what we here in the Deep South call learning how to 'make chicken salad out of chicken shit.'

This happened on my street in NYC back during the bad old daze......my neighbor was coming home from work at night and a mugger followed her to the apartment door.....when she unlocked the door, the mugger tried to push his way in behind her....luckily she was fast and trapped the mugger's hand in the door jamb....her son ( my childhood friend) came running with a cleaver and took half the hand off.....mugger was arrested at hospital....

Hmmmm we live on a cattle ranch and have taught our children to take care of themselves. We go to Walmart on ocasion. We also are well known in our county and highly respected. To call people like us WaliWorld people pisses me off.

How would you like calling you names for being half dressed on an Internet site?

I think the saying is more about not being a "chicken shit" rather than making something out of nothing.

Anyway, making something out of next to nothing is an admirable trait. Making the best of what you have, etc. I'm not sure I'd like to try that chicken salad though.

Good the kid kept his wits about him and used whatever was available as a weapon. He's lucky they didn't have or use guns on him.

And I live in a rural Tier 2 county where WallyWorld is the only game in town. After they put the squeeze on all the small mom-n-pop businesses.

Because I live in a Tier 2 county, there is a rather large segment of our residents who pretty much are represented in all the memes out there. We have poverty, we have crime, and we have gangs due to our close proximity of being strategically located between major interstates. You would not believe the jokers-n-clowns I see in my travels.

And yeah, because it is the only game in the county where I live, I do shop there. But we do have folks like the lady driving drunk on a toy truck.

Hmmm....b/c I like to enjoy my front deck while I'm surfing the innerwebs, I actually don't sit around half naked on my farm due to the skeeters and horse flies.

Sorry if you were triggered by reference to WallyWorld folks but they do walk among us. Maybe just more where I live, sir/madam.
