If you could only choose one long gun what would it be? | |

Slugs will put a new glory hole into threat be it man or beast. Scatter shot will fan out over distance depending on what choke you use (or if you use one at all). Quoting: Hiram's Apprentice Then there's the specialty "novelty" rounds such as Dragons Breath--- nasty incendiary rounds that REALLY "fuck shit up!". Shotgun is easily the wisest choice for home defense and cqb. Shotgun with 8 round riot capacity. Load in bird shot for a warning shot, 4 00 buck, then three slugs to finish things off. shotguns are for people that cain't aim. . Sometimes aiming isn't an option. |

It's lightweight, ergonomic, and easy to customize. It's a multi-caliber platform. Many popular calibers can be utilized by simply changing the upper, and in some cases the magazine It's accurate, has low recoil, and is fun to shoot, so you won't mind practicing, which is necessary. Quoting: Damaniel a Ruger 10/22. It's the most versatile rifle out there if you are only interested in ONE rifle. This rifle can be used for self defense and hunting, rounds are cheap and typically plentiful. It doesn't kick and the Ruger 10/22 can be tricked out with all kinds of after market stocks, triggers and optics should you be so inclined. And, if you shop, you can pick one up for under 300 bucks The key is you must be able to put the round on target. Is the best gun in all those roles, absolutely not but if you aren't going to train a bunch |

A .50 cal is overkill. Ammo is expensive & each shot will kick your ass. Even the Weatherby 300 ultra mag is far more firepower than would ever be needed unless you're shooting at targets over a mile and a half away. K98s chambered in 7.92x57 (8mm Mauser) are probably the best well-rounded bolt action rifle ever made. The bolt design is so rugged that every bolt action rifle made after the K98 was introduced is a variant of the Mauser design. Surplus ammo is easy to find and rather cheap, though most surplus has corrosive primers. Commercially available ammo is generally underpowered for what the rifle can handle however Seller & Bellott produces rather hot rounds. Late 1930's Turkish surplus can still be found as well--- a true gem as the propellant is cordite. |

I know a guy who got shot with a 22 7 times and was fine... Depends on how well you shoot. A bull pissed me off so I shot him with a Ruger Mark III .22 pistol. He was at full gallop when I shot him in the head. He instantly lost all muscle control and did a complete forward flip before landing on the ground. Deader than a hammer. |
