What's the best Stephen King book to read?
I want to start reading some Stephen King books. What would you recommend are his best works? Any books that aren't that good that I should avoid?

I would say that the Dream Catcher was a very enlightening read.

His non-fictional work "Dance Macabre",.. tells you a little about the Man himself and his mentalitystoner

The Dark Tower Bock Series were stunning ,..if you like to read long winded tales.

I have been One of his avid readers…like some fanatic!!lolsign

In this order:
The Stand
Christine
It
Pet Sematary (didn't turn the lights off for a week!)
And then for something completely different but still King:
The Eyes of the Dragon (this may be more suitable for female readers)

The book "Christine" was way better than the movie, but "The Stand" is my favorite from him.

Re: What's the best Stephen King book to read?
The Stand is a classic. He also wrote The Eyes of the Dragon, which was a delightful book, totally different from everything else he wrote.

Christine, The Shining, and the Tommyknockers were also interesting, but maybe go too far to the bizarre.

Used to love his books, but he's come out as such a flake, not so interested anymore.

My favorite was Cujo.

Gunslinger stories good too.

Just make up spooky little kid stories in your mind that a 5th grader could come up with and you'll get all of his books for free.

I have read all of Steven kings books.
Up until tommyknockers, I didn't even finish that book.

Tommyknockers was really good until he started writing really
fast making the book up as he went along. It seemed like he wanted
to finish writing it as fast as possible, so he could start on his next
book.

Which I did not read.

I haven't read any of his newer books but can say that most of his Best Sellers were very good. Read one with 5-Star reviews first.

Re: What's the best Stephen King book to read?
Early classics with their movies of course.

Carrie
The Shining
Pet Cemetary

I don’t like the ones that go on and on.

Same era, different author, The Amytyville Horror.
Same genre, The Black Hope Horror.
