Anonymous Coward User ID: 64065828 United States 06/19/2019 08:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was laidoff at kelloggs today after working for 25 years. They laidoff all the senior staff who worked for more than 20 years. Please pray for me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77675044 We all know the GOP giving corporations a 15% tax break was a scam on the American people. They claimed corps would reinvest in their workers and companies and give raises and bonuses....all BS. I see companies outsourcing, laying off workers, trucking companies closing. America better wake up to what is really happening and the rich are getting richer and the GOP is lining their pockets. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77519297 United States 06/19/2019 08:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | about 8 years ago we went to Battle creek to see the drum and bugle corp competition. Met a farmer who worked at Kellogs for 35 years. He said they just packed up and moved to South America and let all the workers go. Be happy that you had so many years with a decent wage, I have struggled all my life to try to get a decent job that lasted, but it never happened. I have an MD degree and Computer Engineering degree but could never get a residency nor a lasting computer job. Now I have been working for minimum wage for the last 15 years in group homes as a tard bouncer; it pays the bills. You will be lucky to get ANY JOB over 45 years of age, so dont be picky. |
Lost Lady User ID: 12356415 United States 06/19/2019 09:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The steel industry is having a huge downturn now as well. We're down to 4 day work weeks, which is unheard of, and will be laid off every other week for some unknown amount of time. Been here for nearly 20 years and this is only the second time I've witnessed it so slow. We're usually on 6 day work weeks (3 turn) and occasionally run straight through. It's an SBQ shop, so specialty steel, not flat roll or common chem. Me thinks something besides "steelmageddon" is at play here. Good luck OP! Quoting: Lost Lady Profitability is low because of the price war encouraging too much global supply? Yep. The steel giants are buying up smaller mills, building new mills and undercutting the little guys. Nucore, SDI, etc are the new SteelMarts of the world, taking over just like Walmart and Amazon. Sadly, Steelmagedon isn't even close to full swing yet. "They can only hold you down if you let them". |

I am still collecting my year's severance. They have asked me to com back as a consultant at 50% more salary but no benefits. My wife a d I are on Medicare so that will work for me. I also will start collecting my pension when the severance is complete. So for me not too bad. A year off with full pay and benefits. |

tiger1 User ID: 76712081 United States 06/19/2019 10:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This happened to my husband 3 times. Pullman closed, and he lost his job of 10 years, no severance pay but he does have a small pension. Then, Lewis Smoked Meats closed, 21 years no pension or severance pay. Then AK/Oshkosh closed, and he lost his last job of 7 years no severance pay no pension. He had been severely injured in a work accident at the last one, and ended up finally just applying for disability. I feel for you, as we have been through this. When the second job shut down, we still had 2 minor children at home. When he lost the 3rd job, we still had 1 minor child at home. Prayers said. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |
