Quoting: NOLAangel They are blaming it on the extended River flooding, but it seems more than just that to me. Is that the same thing as a May Fly? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70557846 [link to entomologytoday.org (secure)] If so, their sole purpose is to have sex and then die. I was on a camping trip once, and they all started to come out at dusk. They coated the pond, and there was nowhere to go to escape them. It was creepy. Those fuckers bite some people. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77633169 They tore me up two weeks ago. My buddy, fishing three feet away wasn't touched. Every spot they bit swelled up like a Nip's bagel head injections. They are also killing livestock. MAY FLIES... Meeting Abba Yourselves Father Loathes It's Evil Spirits 2 In The Fields 1 Is Bitten 1 Is Not... CELT1 |

Grandma9 User ID: 75325376 United States 06/19/2019 01:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was in Galveston a couple of weeks ago and experienced the worst, most aggressive mosquitoes in my life. They would just swarm you...going up your nose, in your ears...all over!! It was terrible. And I'm from northeast TX where mosquitoes are definitely the norm this time of year, but those down at the coast were like nothing I've ever seen. Congratulations you were introduced to Marsh mosquitos that we have down here. They are bigger and more aggressive then the ones you have in north Texas. You either learn to go coveted in bug spray or don’t go out when ever possible. Especially at night. Grandma9 |

Midwest Skeptic User ID: 77374864 United States 06/19/2019 01:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That has NOTHING over the Mayfly season at Lake Erie!! You have NEVER seen a bug infestation until you experience one of those Mayfly Events. The Mayfly season lasts all of about 5 days ... but during those 5 days anywhere near the lake (in the Western Basin) the place is literally swarming with CLOUDS of Mayflies. Go into a store and come out ... voila you can't even see out your front car/truck window so many have landed on it. Want to drive at night? FORGET IT!! You won't be able to see out your front window after a mile from all the bugs smeared on it (unless you go really really slow - say 20 mph or so). I am sure the grasshopper events of the Bible, and even today, are just as bad, and unlike Mayflies those grasshoppers will quickly make anyplace they end up totally devoid of ALL vegetation. MASSIVE bug swarms are one of nature's quirks. Birds love it ... and for Lake Erie the fish go into a feeding frenzy (ie: there is no way you can fish during those times because the fish have so much food to eat they aren't interested in your bait) Midwest Skeptic |

Quoting: NOLAangel They are blaming it on the extended River flooding, but it seems more than just that to me. :5stars: Sort of biblical...before Planet X did its last "Pass-over" Egypt about 3,600 years ago, there were plagues of flies and maybe other bugs that swarmed amongst the people. There were serious droughts, raging storms, weather that ruined their crops, undrinkable water, earthquakes, snow in the deserts, great hailstones, and other responses from the earth as the magnetic forces of the incoming Planet X System came ever closer. Seems to me, the book of Revelation is not so much a prophecy of things to come but a history of the things that happened during the last "passover." If so, we can watch the plagues of ancient Egypt revisit the earth as we await the next passover. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 16762662 United States 06/19/2019 09:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Now you know why people will live in California and much of the West at any price. This doesn't happen. A few moth issues perhaps. Growing up I was forced to be in a rural log cabin on Long Islands Eastern shore with rough screens windows held up by sticks. By Dark, the screens would be covered with thousands of moths and night insects, some as big as your hand. This is near the Peconic Bays. You do not want to get caught in a mosquito swarm anywhere, that could kill you. You'd have to be hospitalized and knocked out for a couple of weeks. Chiggers are what is going to make the choice for me. I have to put deet on INDOORS in the south here in Mid Tennessee summers or I get bitten, and the bites last for three months. If the south didn't have that one bug, Chiggers, also called Harvest Mites or Strawberry Mites it would be great. The West does not have Harvest Mites. You can hike for hours around Denver and not get bitten. Mosquitos near still water in summer, yes, but much more comfortable with no mites. |

Had to stop 3 times to clean the windshield. The sprayer just wouldn't do it. I had rainX treated it also. Bugs sounded like heavy rain storm hitting the windshield.
