In his last years of life, Dr. Wernher von Braun repeated the same warning countless times.
He insisted that the U.S. defence industry, in order to justify the need for powerful space-based weapons systems, would introduce a series of manufactured threats in a precise sequence.

1) the Soviet Union
2) terrorists
3) rogue third-world countries
4) asteroids
5) extraterrestrials

We are now on the third threat and clearly being shaped to expect the final two.
