We go down a certain amount and hit the hot spot. All that is required then is to pour water down the hole to drive turbines - or use air with a convection system and voila, pump the output up through some wires and the jobs a good un.

Infinite, free source of power?

Steam used in turbines must be pure or deposits build up quickly.

Unless “naturally “ gets close to the

Surface...

We cannot reach it with today’s Technology.

Nothing is infinite, nor free.
You'd still have to pay for the infrastructure.

In most places you'd have to drill to deep for it to be economical,
But in places with lots of volcanic activity it's very doable.
Iceland get 30% of its electricity from geothermal energy.

The term to search for is "geothermal energy" and you will discover that Utah, Nevada, California, and Hawaii all have large geothermal power plants already running.

The working fluid can be things other than water. Propane has been used.

Old refrigeration systems sometimes used ammonia.

Could you use shifting turbines that clean the turbines when shifted out?

The best roundup of links is on page two:

And, consider that east of the Mississippi river there are a bunch of dams already built that DO NOT have hydroelectric generation. What that means is you don't have to justify and build the dam - just retrofit an existing dam.
