Irish Beto O'Rourke proposes 'war tax' on affluent U.S. families without military members
The military has about 1.36 million active-duty members out of a total U.S. population of some 327 million people. The country's armed forces have been all-volunteer since the military draft ended in 1973 as the United States wound down its involvement in the Vietnam War.

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke on Monday proposed taxing affluent American families who do not have members in the U.S. military.

The former congressman from Texas unveiled a plan for that includes a "war tax," in which taxpayers who earn over $200,000 a year would pay $1,000 in a new tax for each war embarked on by the United States.

O'Rourke, who did not serve in the military but sat on the House of Representatives Armed Services and Veterans' Affairs committees, said the tax would be levied on households without current members of the U.S. military.

Do they really think they are going to win using new taxes as their big selling point?

Sounds like he’s a war monger at heart. I’d watch out for him.

Fascinating.

Do these people live so much in a bubble that they have *nobody* intelligent to bounce ideas off?

Are they completely surrounded only by clones and sycophants who will agree to any idea..

"Guess what, guys? I woke up this morning and I thought, like, wouldn't it be just such a great idea, like, if we, like, just sooooo taxed people for, like, not sending their children to die, like, anywhere in the world, like, for no reason..."

I saw that. WTH? that is just the first of the taking. Next it will be taking $1000 from every family who does not have a student in college. Then it will be taking $1000 to pay for immigrants' health care. Then it will be taking $1000 for abortion costs for people who cannot afford it. Then it will be taking $1000 from families who own homes to give to those who do not so that they can buy homes, too...
