Prayer requests for Miggy and me. Updated with my full life story for your delight | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77748375 United States 06/24/2019 02:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Prayers sent. I don't mean to be harsh but a family member who expects you to loose your job over their illness maybe should be reconsidered in the future. At some point adults have to plan for such. We are not going to live forever. Other than a spouse, child or grandchild no relative should demand such of anyone. Hopefully you will get your unemployment soon. Maybe speak to your landlord. Have you tried to get your job back? |
Cynical Realist Senior Forum Moderator User ID: 77755880 United Kingdom 06/24/2019 02:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was forced to resign from a full-time job I've had the past 3 years last month after an illness (pneumonia) and excessive absenteeism due to the illness and a family member's death. Quoting: Miggy I am currently waiting for my unemployment claim to be approved while I continue job hunting every day. Today is the last day for me to pay rent plus late charges or I am going to be evicted. I've been living paycheck to paycheck these past 3 year so I have no money saved up for such an event as this. Does anyone know if the judges who handle these cases are sympathetic to the length of time it takes for unemployment to be approved? I don't plan on sneaking out and not paying- in fact, I don't have anywhere to go if I did. I've never been in this position before and was wondering if anyone has any answers? Prayers of encouragement would be very much appreciated. Miggy PS. If I had anything of value I would sell it but I own very little belongings and they're not really worth anything. Ok.... Sorry to hear about your situation.....I can only imagine what you view on today and tomorrow must be like.. Rather than pray... Lets see if we can be more constructive.. What relationship do you have with your Land lord?? Also has you Employer done EVERYTHING to the book?? Did you have a contract?? At this point I imagine your mindset and self esteem must be at a low point....... Do you have anyone close that you can share this with? IF YOU HAVE A FEVER DO NOT LOWER IT WITH MEDS.... A FEVER IS AN IMMUNE SYSTEM RESPONSE TO A PATHOGEN (VIRUS, BACTERIA ETC..) IT MEANS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY....DONT USE DRUGS TO LOWER YOUR TEMP. |

Miggy (OP) User ID: 22845984 United States 06/24/2019 02:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thank you, Cynical. Yes, this really stings because I have worked really hard the past 3 years after moving here to go int a recovery treatment program for what had quickly become an alcohol addiction. My typical day began at 4 AM when I would walk to the bus stop and go to work from 8 to 5 then return back home and get home about 6 PM. The apartment complex is non-negotiable when you are late with rent. If I dn't pay by the close of today then I also have to pay for July's rent before going to court on Thursday. My place of employment automatically denies the first claim individuals make and I am now in appeals which I believe I will get but it's time consuming. Frankly I am scared to death at the moment. Thank you for caring. My monthly expenses have left only about $25 a month for anything extra and I recently needed to use that for my trip home to the funeral and for my little Miggy who got sick and needed to visit the vet. When it rains it pours. At least it's been 3 good years. |

Miggy (OP) User ID: 22845984 United States 06/24/2019 03:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I love God so much. He has always brought me through troubled times and I have been so fortunate to have a solid, productive life the past 3 years. But this is really scary to me today, realizing this may be the last couple of days I have a home. Mostly I am grateful that I have not relapsed because surely this situation would drive others back into wanting a drink of alcohol. |

They will want to enslave you for the canned goods so be wary. Go hit all of them whether you agree with the faith or not. If you are over 55, contact your local senior center. Under 55, social services. |

The FMLA allows for three months for the illness of a family member or yourself. Did you properly for FMLA? To be awarded unemployment, you have to show that you were fired without a valid cause like violating the employee policies, or, in your case, the attendance policy. I am sorry for your misfortune and hope your stituation will improve. |

They often have resources. We recently had to leave our apartment due to out of control violence and ongoing gas leak issues. If not for a bit of super fortunate extra cash we probably would've died there with all the other people who ended up dead on their floors. The housing situation is killing real people. A lot of the marginalized housing people are being pushed into is not just stressful but dangerous. |

A lot of the marginalized housing people are being pushed into is not just stressful but dangerous. Jinn, I am so sorry about your situation. Yes, I understand about the violence in these apartment buildings. Last summer there was gunfire almost nightly outside my windows so I made sure Miggy and I were inside with lights out by 8 PM. But this is the cheapest available in this city and it's still $600 a month plus electric and water. It is supposed to be a controlled, gated community but the gates haven't worked since I moved in a year ago and are always wide open. Despite many of us complaining they say they can't help it because people keep breaking them. At $11 an hour it's just very hard for one person to live alone and make it. By the way, I prefer attending church and Celebrate Recovery. |

Miggy, I’m evicting someone right now. I started in March, she’s still in my condo. I wiped her slate clean on late fees twice and she refused to open the door for state mandated inspections, costing me 3 months of rent which was the last straw for me. Depending on the law in your state, you may have a couple more months to clear it up. Every court order read that she was to be out, but it’s so complicated to understand. & every time, she doesn’t show to court, still gets 30 more days. Clearly explain your circumstances to the judge. |

I closed out my 401-K the day after and even that is going to take up to 45 days to receive. I don't want to bother anyone at all and I'm sorry what you're going through. I want to pay every penny I owe. I just can't until all of this is settled and I am drawing another paycheck along with receiving my 401-K and unemployment. Thank you for your advice. But I am still terrified. This really sux. |
