I was forced to resign from a full-time job I've had the past 3 years last month after an illness (pneumonia) and excessive absenteeism due to the illness and a family member's death.
I am currently waiting for my unemployment claim to be approved while I continue job hunting every day.
Today is the last day for me to pay rent plus late charges or I am going to be evicted. I've been living paycheck to paycheck these past 3 year so I have no money saved up for such an event as this.
Does anyone know if the judges who handle these cases are sympathetic to the length of time it takes for unemployment to be approved?
I don't plan on sneaking out and not paying- in fact, I don't have anywhere to go if I did.
I've never been in this position before and was wondering if anyone has any answers?
Prayers of encouragement would be very much appreciated.
Miggy
PS. If I had anything of value I would sell it but I own very little belongings and they're not really worth anything.
Quoting: Miggy you will find out evictions take months and months and often never happen. Quoting: beeches Hi there, Beeches. I hope you are well. You have always been one of my favorite people on this forum. Love, Miggy Quoting: Miggy Dear Miggy, I hope you feel the joy of riding a bike home at sunset soon! Evictions are SLOW. even in so-called public housing. Do not panic. Ignore the note on the door in terms of time. Take it to a free legal group if you can. Or call a tenant legal hotline. Tenants generally get treated very well. Evictions do happen, but a LOT has to happen before that... could be well into next year before anything real happens. Meanwhile, you may find work. your sentence about being forced to resign makes me mad, as being outright fired could give you an easier time in some areas. Churches do offer help. Don't panic. When I had to care for my dying dad, I was able to take time off work. It was only a short time. For my mother, I got FMLA family leave and then left the job, as it was impossible to continue scheduled work. You and Miggy should be okay. Keep us posted. literally!
