Walmart's "Great Value brand." I never heard of them! I don't buy food at Walmart. Went shopping today at the military commissary. Shelves stocked. No problem at all! Huge commissary! |

nutmeg User ID: 76388104 United States 07/03/2019 10:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Considering the percent of food produced in CA the Midwest could stop farming altogether and we'd be fine...countries that net import food might have a bad time, but we'd be fine. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5194288 . New Jersey is home to 10,300 farms, with an average farm size of 71 acres. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables grow here. We're not hungry. No flooding. Yeah, food is grown all over the country, way more than domestic consumption uses, these guys just can't find any real doom to worry about so fret over a few barren fields. |

TXGLP2 User ID: 76819314 United States 07/03/2019 11:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would not buy ANY of what was grown. GMO SOY? No Thanks! GMO Wheat? No Thanks! GMO Corn? No Thanks! GMO Oats? No Thanks I would not eat any of that deadly poison so the fact that there is less of it going around is a GOOD GOOD thing I concur. Buy the organic stuff that many fear; at half price and watch the dates. It's cheaper than conventional. Food Shortages, not here (yet). Don't expect them here (realistically). If happens, we're far enough out that people grow their own and will barter. A shortage of GMO food is NEVER a hardship. We'll go without or learn to grow (uh, we already have when it's not outlawed), bake it; buy in bulk and do so. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 16762662 United States 07/03/2019 11:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Barges are stuck on the lower Ohio river and have been for over 90 days. They have been trying to bring back Cairo Illinois for decades, now the Gov is considering a 70 million dollar investment in a Shipping port there so they can offload in high water season, which is a fantatstic idea. That area should be brought back as it once was, vibrant and alive. That and the new rec pot laws in Illnois might just do it. That whole area is so appealing location wise but has little infrastruture but a couple of freeways. A new port would change everything. Contary to belief however, it is not an abandoned town. 2200 still live there and they are big enough to have it's own High School. There is also almost no property for sale so someone is holding on to it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 59521093 United States 07/03/2019 11:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | your AC identity left of screen, looks yellow, to me. ......but good topic to discuss. Pig ebola, swine flu, avian bird flu, mass bee die off........flooding, drought........fukushima......etc. Yeah. Food doom is scary. It's doom for sure when the crops and animals we rely on for food are dying, dead or un-plantable! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77272669 United States 07/03/2019 11:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Pure Bullshit fearmongering propaganda. You should be horse whipped for posting a couple pictures and yelling food shortages as if a nation wide food shortage has started. I doubt you ever worked a whole week in a distribution plant or know what a "Just In Time Delivery" is. All grocery stores work on a "Just In Time Delivery" program because the store does not have a huge warehouse to back stock goods in. All it takes is one foul up in the distribution chain and a store or two will have a temporary shortage in some items. Foul ups in the distribution chain do happen you know right? Oh right I forgot you don't know jackall about working in a distribution company much less a food distribution company and or a food delivery truck driver. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 54016204 United States 07/04/2019 12:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | china just ordered a shitload of grain from the USA we cant be in too bad of shape Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76890717 I just heard a report about this a few days ago on Gordon Deal. It was about resolving the trade disputes with China and how it's a little hard when we don't have anything to trade with anybody except agricultural products like some lame ass third world country. And the problem with that is we are making trade deals for agriculture shipments during a time we can't even get crops in the ground. What are they planning on doing, trading our strategic reserves of food stores? This country is being run by brain dead pointy-headed bureaucrats. That is why I think Trump should drop all trade negotiations with china and go across the board 100% tariffs on everything. Can't. The trade negotiations are what is keeping china from going genocidal in Hong Kong. |

Started with 1/3 of there population is now to over 1/2. Don't bring Hong Kong into this. Its a revolution, soon they will be like Singapore and this will echo to Taiwan and all Asian countries. Anonymous Coward User ID: 74599475 United States 07/04/2019 12:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Put a garden in if your worried. Personally I think this is fear mongering. As someone that has a big garden and dealt with the flooding it did set me back a few weeks but my garden is back to normal in only a few dry weeks. No excuse not to put a garden in and no excuse for farmers either |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 54016204 United States 07/04/2019 12:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mcdonalds is making a "new mini big mac" for same price as the regular one that is no longer available. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77007920 Glad to see at least someone else has noticed this...the patties on those things are almost nonexistent....what a rip off. Want to know something else weird? They ONLY SAY THE QUARTER POUNDER IS MADE WITH 100% BEEF. Go and look at a sign in the next few days. I noticed that the meat on the 10 to 1 patties (small burgers, double cheesburgers) has gotten rubbery. Next time I went, I got some fish sandwiches. Tasted like complete garbage. Never going to McDonalds again. MAc Dees has been on a down trend since 1985. That was the last time I can remember one of there burgers tasting good. |

To stand up to the bully China. Well aware. Why do you suppose the Russian sub wanted to tap the communication line between north America an Asia. Could be Russian wants evidence that U.S. is providing intel to Hong Kong. For thousands of years, every two hundred years or so half the Chinese population killed the other half. Colonialism stopped it for awhile but a regression to the mean is all ways possible. The ChiComs don't care if 100% of Hong Kong want independence. The ChiComs don't care if they have to kill everyone in Hong Kong to keep it. These are people who in the great leap forward resorted to cannibalism to feed the red army. They do care that western markets could be closed because Americans and Europeans are horrified by ChiCom oppression. |
