This is a picture taken Dec. 28, 2018, of our sugar cane farm. At one time or another, the entire farm -2000 acres- looked like this picture. From August through about 3 weeks after this picture was taken, the farm did not have 1 dry day. That is not to say that it rained every day but there was never enough of a break to allow the ground to dry. It's been a tough year for farmers all over the country.

Praying for those affected in other states.

I was just in Walmart no shortages that I could see. But I expect food prices to skyrocket soon do to all the flooding.

We warn people about specifics, about exactly what will not be available. Famine is on the way. This fall and winter will be bad, and the following year worse. I also warn people that many farmers here are giving up - they just cannot come back from this disaster. Farms are being sold - to whom? Other countries - China, for example. Will we be the recipients of crops grown on those farms as we always have been? Of course not. They will be shipping to other countries, and it is our loss, over and over.

I've been buying a few buckets of rice, beans, oats etc. every month or two since last year plus filtering and storing 200 gallons of water. Not sure how much I will need for the 2 of us and 2 dogs.

Here in Brazil the same thing is happening. The size of the products is declining more and more, but unlike the United States, the price of things is rising.
