Quoting: MissCleo Talk to the manager at the Walmart and ask questions. Have a business plan ready, like all finances and equipment and move in layout, don't go in with just an idea... that is wasting people's time. Thanks Miss Cleo, I have the specifics worked out, but have yet to put the plan down on paper. My wife is a stellar employee there for 5 years. Thank you for a quick response. I will put a business plan together within the next few days. God bless & Happy Independence Day! :o) |

I just saw one I used to go to as a kid & it's still there...I stopped in & it was as dead as a door-nail. But it was all pin-balls and pool tables...no video games, so that could have been the problem. Who TF plays pinball any more? If I am going to be damned...I am going to be damned for who I really am! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76766133 United States 07/04/2019 06:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A word of warning / advice: almost every vending machine and arcade game company in every town is controlled by the mob. You cannot have any sort of game establishment unless you "rent" the machines from them. Someone I knew back in the '70s discovered on a trip foosball. He bought a table and brought it back to town. Talked to a bar owner friend of his and had it installed. Within a week the bar owner told him he had to remove it. Seems the mob that had all of the other machines put serious pressure on the owner. Another week later the mob installed their own foosball table. |

Most kids have pretty sophisticated video games at home or on the computer that they can play, almost to the point of being addictive games. Wal-Mart attracts a lot of people, but also a lot of lower income folks that are not apt to give their kid some money to go play video games by themselves. Plus you have the issue with no adults on-site supervising to make sure they don't get in trouble, etc. If you want to get into this line of work, try laser tag. Kids seem to go to a lot of birthday parties with laser tag, or the bouncy trampolines. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74833774 United States 07/05/2019 11:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My local Walmart's in store McDonalds closed & was boarded up 3 years ago. My wife & I want to start a business. Quoting: Texas Guitarslinger 70014713 My idea was to turn that former McDonald's into an in store Walmart game arcade. While parent's shop their kids can play in the arcade. Kids today, more than likely have never experienced a video arcade like we did in the 70's & 80's. What do you guy's think...a good business venture? If Walmart owns the store and sublets the room, then I would propose the idea from an angle that they will collect on rent, revenue stream. Plus it gives the appearance that Walmart is thriving, generating more traffic. Place your best and flashiest games, lots of sound up front, you want to draw people, but you also want to give the appearance that your shop is where it's at, by virtue of large crowds up front, this generates even more traffic. |

Kids seem to go to a lot of birthday parties with laser tag, or the bouncy trampolines. Agreed. And you have liability if any kid gets hurt. That becomes really expensive. Some kid will say he was molested and business is over. Better for parents to babysit their own kids. A small space for business? They are going to charge you $2000 a month rent, it's not free. That takes a huge cut into your profits. How many quarters does it take to make $2000? Massage chairs... there's a business. But then you have to deal with butt juice on chairs. Men will sit in those things while their wives go shopping for hours, feeding in dollar bills. Add a TV and you are set! They have these in my mall, always filled. |

But then you are paying royalties to the arcade company too. And rental of their machines. TV with an old western DVD and massage chairs, I'm telling ya. Call it Wally Lounge. |
