We left CA exactly one week ago. Strange. Wouldn't have considered it as recently as February. Like a force driving us to GET OUT NOW. Unexpected money has come in to help. All obstacles melted away. Still don't know why, but it was very clear that it was our time to leave, ready or not. Even our departure date was accelerated by about 6-8 weeks. Feeling relieved to actually be gone.

I left in 2008 - a few months after my job had been outsourced to a temp company based in India.

It was time though - as my Mom was in a nursing home in the Midwest, and her former house was in my name.

Yep, I moved out of Ill-noise like 7 years ago. I still make all my money there, but at least I don't live there anymore and have to be subjugated to their taxes and fees, for the most part.

I heard IOWA and Georgia a nice this time of year. I plan on moving from Cali to Iowa next year and run for Senate. If elected I want a "Tractor TAX and a Truck TAX". Agreed. Lived in CA 3 times for a total of 25 years, moved on and am happy with my decision. CA no longer sustainable on several serious criteria.
