Pillars of light appear in Philippines skies
"Pillars of light" appeared again in the province of Sulu this year, and were captured in several photos shared by netizens.

Sulu is a province of the Philippines in the Sulu

According to a certain Amarkhan Jidara, who shared several photos of the spectacular dance of lights in the night sky, the latest celestial show they witnessed was last Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 7 p.m

Very cool, maybe they should be watching for earthquakes, although not quiet luminescent, could be related....

So weird how they just start, then stop a little higher... with no discernible source.

If they started somewhere, and ended on something like an obstruction, then I could understand that a little easier.

Weird.

They look like reflections in a window, to me. All the pics are photographed from only one location. You'd think if those lights were really in the sky, there would be photographs from all over that area. Someone would even fly a drone up there to take a closer look.

Not good. Earthquake lights. Expect major 7-8+ EQ in Southern Philippines during next 24-36 hrs if this isn't fake. Sulu Sea is between Visayas and Mindanao islands.

Edit - "PAGASA explained that the phenomenon is caused by moonlight reflecting off ice crystals in the clouds." DOST-PAGASA is Philippines equivalent of US NOAA. I don't buy their explanation. The moon is a waxing quarter and ice crystals are more commonly seen as "halos" around the moon itself by thin cirrus clouds. This is not the case in those pics.

The Earth is generating tremendous amounts of EMF energy along its magnetic field for this to occur. Not solar based aurora either this close to the equator.

Nice try shill. They are from different perspectives in the general vicinity, not through a window. Why would someone fly a drone when those pillars of light of are occurring in the stratosphere and above. The cirrus clouds in pictures are around 25-35k ft elevation. The moon is setting on the horizon and not likely the light source. As I stated in my other reply, those pillars seem to be EMF based following along Earth's magnetic field lines similar to auroras. But not solar based, since Sulu area is about 5N latitude from equator.

I'm an open minded skeptic and nothing in the article resembles it's a hoax. BTW - I volunteer with DOST-PAGASA, regional and national disaster risk reduction management offices (PDRRMO/NDRRMC). I have an automated weather station (AWS) that reports to WU and DOST-PAGASA, including lightning detection. I give advisories of tropical systems based upon information and weather models from the US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC). This is at least 24-48 hrs before they enter the PAR (Philippines Area of Responsibility). Last year I kept them updated on Super Typhoon Mangkhut (Ompong) almost a week before it entered the PAR. I also volunteered with rescue and recovery ops in Banquet area using my drone with FLIR and 4k video feeds.

Cosmic Rays don't cause auroras. This is energy released from within the Earth itself flowing along magnetic field lines. If it was a solar based aurora event, at 5N latitude, the resulting EMP would cause widespread power outages.

cruise

I like when they are baffled and puzzled. Such as the increase in geothermic geyser activity at Yellowstone. Same with EQ activity in SOCAL.

No wonder Dutch and family were threatened with being 'swatted'. Government funded fake scientists USGS or NOAA don't like it when an independent researcher calls them out. It threatens their funding gravy train.

I consider Dutch to be the prodigy of Jim Berkeland (RIP). He was a USGS scientist that accurately predicted the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. After that became public, the USGS dumped him instead of granting him additional research money. Like many others on this site, if you don't tow the "official" lies by TPTB, you get ostracized and lose your income source.

It's plausible, but not likely a hoax. Like North Carolina's Brown Mountain lights or Texas's Mafa lights, they've been reported by natives for over a hundred years.
