Thanks Luisport - if that model holds up it would place a strong hurricane coming ashore at Galveston TX and moving up to Houston - if this storm turns into a rainmaker like TS Allison (1994 or 95) then Houston will probably experience extreme flooding again - stay alert and safe people

Our local meteorologist said a weaker storm would turn north sooner in Louisiana and a stronger storm would go more west. Louisiana to the upper Texas coast needs to watch this.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

A broad low pressure area located over the northeastern Gulf of
Mexico about 100 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola, Florida,
is producing widespread cloudiness and disorganized showers and
thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are conducive for
development of this system, and a tropical depression is expected
to form late today or Thursday while the low moves slowly westward
across the northern Gulf of Mexico. An Air Force Reserve Unit
reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the disturbance
this afternoon. This system could produce storm surge and tropical-
storm- or hurricane-force winds across portions of the Louisiana,
Mississippi, and Upper Texas coasts later this week, and interests
there should closely monitor its progress. In addition, this
disturbance has the potential to produce very heavy rainfall from
the Upper Texas Coast to the Florida Panhandle. For more
information, please see products issued by your local weather
forecast office and the NOAA Weather Prediction Center.

Oh my... and so hurricane season begins. Just what we need. More rain! Yikes!! The Midwest lost crops. Now the east preparing for hurricane Barry to form and start. Houston area can’t take more flooding either!!

Our chief meteorologist here in southeast tx said this morning that the surface low is forming further south. Also with the ridge to the northwest not really weakening, a more Westerly track is very possible. Euro says TX/LA border.

Just look with hurricane Michael last year. It went from what category 1 to category 5 in space of 48 hours? No model predicted it I think.

* At 754 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado

was located near New Orleans, moving southwest at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without

shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.

Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree

damage is likely.
