Seriously....is New Orleans actually inhabitable on a regular basis with the flooding conditions they're now experiencing? I'm wondering if realistically the city should be abandoned. Also wondering how much of Louisiana might be as badly off.

New Orleans is the worst area in the state because it is bowl shaped.

Plaquemines Parish is bad because it is a peninsula and sticks out into the Gulf.

Most coastal areas are prone to flooding. It's very popular for weekenders. My opinion on that is if you can afford a second ot third home. The rest of the state should not have to pay higher insurance premiums to cover you. I say this as someone who has had beach houses on the coast.

Other areas of the state, like those in any other state, will flood given the right (wrong) situations.

But saying that any place should be abandoned, is ,imo, wrong. Would you say that the coastal areas of Pacific bordering states should be abandoned because of earthquakes?
What about tornado prone areas or areas in other states that border rivers which have overflowed? All states have their own climatological and or geographical problems.

NOAA/WPC's new 3-day rainfall forecast starting at 7 PM CDT tonight has a 20-25" bull's-eye over southeast Louisiana. It's very unusual for the 20" mark to be topped in such an outlook. Potentially severe flooding is on tap.

Talked to DPS guy, they’re expecting 25 in of rain. Call it uncle intel if you want. He’s not looking forward to this weekend. The 10-20in is for the masses. They knew if they said 25, people would freak. Such is the way of the controlled media.
