The communication between the LEM and Houston over a distance of 230,000 miles is clear and without delay with 1969 communication technology and today, I lose my phone signal as soon as I step onto an elevator, drive out in the country, walk in the woods, etc., etc. Hmmmm.
Quoting: Slash777 There was delay, listen again. It’s about 1/4 of a second.
The communication equipment used to talk from the moon to earth is very different than that in your cell phone.
1. They used orders of magnitude higher power than your cell phone
2. They used high gain antennas.
3. They used highly directional antennas, your cell phone is omni-directional.
4. They used analog comms your cell is digital.
5. In an elevator you are (often) shielded from radio transmissions. Look-up faraday cage.
6. Out in the country there simply isn’t cell coverage because the earth is spherical, there wasn’t coverage to the far side of the moon either.
